Windows 2003 SP2 - removed IPv6 still showing pseudo adaptors
by Guest Matthew Millers- 6 replies

Hi, I suspect that the IPv6 adaptors are affecting one of our clients Exchange RPC-HTTP. I have uninstalled IPv6 but the following interfaces are still being displayed: Tunnel adapter 6to4 Tunneling Pseudo-Interface Tunnel adapter Automatic Tunneling Pseudo-Interface If I run the command "netsh interface ipv6 show interface", it returns "IPv6 is not installed" Any ideas how I can force remove these interfaces? Thanks Matthew

logon.cmd and persistent:yes problem
by Guest Rimfire- 1 reply

Hi A 2003 server std. R2 AD and domain laptops login.cmd problem. In this envinroment they have a login script where server shares are mapped and the persistent seem to be setup to be yes. Actually at the logon.cmd there is nothing related for persistant but since the shares are listed also offline I believe that in that system the default behaviour is that persistent is yes. Now when those laptops are at home and connected to Internet (usually using 3G connection) the user can of couse see the list of server's shares. But if he/she cliks any shares the My Computer will freeze over a minute. The laptop is obviously seeking for those shares. We need tho…

Win2003 server script error: mapping network drives
by Guest samhale- 0 replies
I'm the Tech Director at a school and we use Windows 2003 Server to pass scripts to clients on login depending on user and location. Everything worked well for a year with clients but this year our 4th grade class has been having sporadic problems. The general 'share' folder that all users have always works for these users, but around 20% of the time their individual user mapped-drive does not show up. It is not dependent on machine or user but seems random. Most times the user can logout and log back in and it maps their network drive properly. I'm no script expert (the one we use was created by a consultant) but I would appreciate any help or suggestions that a…

Network Connections
by Guest JohnB- 1 reply

I just noticed this.... in Network Connections, if you change the view to Details, there's a column titled "Phone # or Host Address". There isn't an IP address shown in that column for the installed NIC. Where would one edit that information, to put the IP address in there? I've looked everywhere and didn't it. And Google came up empty. TIA

Windows 2003 R2 Installation
by Guest Jesus- 2 replies

Hi all, I have a question to ask of you experts. I have Windows 2003 R2 CDs. Once you install Windows from scratch and you log into the machine for the first time the system will ask you to insert the 2nd CD from this install. If I disregard this message and continue on my marry way will there be issues with my install later due to the fact that this second CD was not inserted? Not related to R2 components. I'm wondering if there are essential files that are in CD2 that are necessary for Windows to operate properly. I know the 2nd CD from what many people have been saying is not needed and if you install Windows without it is like installing the old ve…

Windows 2003 crashing when enabling /3GB
by Guest Massimo- 7 replies

I've been working a cluster of two Windows 2003 Enterprise SP2 systems, which run SQL Server and are also domain controllers for a local domain (it's an hosted environment, so only two servers could be fitted there). The two servers have each 18 GB of memory, but run the x86 Windows version. The /PAE switch is enabled on those systems, in order to take advantage of all that memory; today, we tried enabling the /3GB switch too, to give SQL Server some extra memory... but then the systems started behaving erratically, taking hours (literally!) to start up, even more time to log on, showing plenty of errors in the event log about almost everything crashing…
