I am trying to SSL enable our exchange 2003 server for OWA. I am following the steps desribed in http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/SSL_Enabling_OWA_2003.html. However, I can not get the Pending request accepted by the Certifcate Authorty (meaning when I do http://localhost/certsrv on the server itself, I get the error message "The page must be viewed over a secure channel". {And I can not do a https://.... until this certificate is installed}. I am running both CA and Exchange 2003 on the same box, which is Windows 2003 Entrerpise, patched. What am I missing? Cheers

Hello, I am attempting to set up BlackBerry Professional on my exchange server. When I go in to domain security settings and attempt to give the BlackBerry account log on locally privileges, I get a message at the bottom of the screen saying "Administrators must be granted the logon local right." How do I grant this right so that I can allow this account to log on locally?

Recovery actions

Which services support recovery actions in Windows Server 2003? The list of services that support recovery actions will vary depending on the domain membership of a server. I cannot find this information anywhere, nor can I figure an easy way to export to a file the services console with its services and properties. Thanks.

Home folders map to root of share
by Guest Michael- 2 replies

Don't know if I am in the correct newsgroup. This has just started happening and seems to be spreading: All users map their home folder U:\ to \\server\share\%username%. This has always been the case and there has never been a problem. I set this up in the user attributes, not in GPO. Now many users' U:\ is mapped to \\server\share\, but it is intermittent. Usually a reboot will correct it, but until rebooted, havoc prevailes. If a user has their U:\ drive made available offline, when they logon, it then tries to sync the entire share with all kinds of security violations. If I catch it happening, I will go into regedit and note that HKU\Volatile…

Error moving file or folder - File locked
by Guest GMR- 4 replies

Now a days we are facing some strange issue in our file servers. Users are not able to rename/move/delete the excel files (first time they can do this, but once the file saved and closed they can't do it again). They are getting the error saying 'It is being used by another person or program' though it is not using by anyuser/program. If we reboot the server the issue will be resolved, but again the problem persists with some other files/shares. This is not with the particular user or share. OS in these servers is Windows 2003 Standard edition with SP2. We have upgraded to SP2 in one server and still the problem exists. Antivirus is upto date.

OEM to Volume License issue
by Guest Jeff- 0 replies

I have a copy of Windows 2003 OEM on a Dell server. I need to move it to another server without rebuilding. I understand the licensing issue with this, however I have a copy ofvolume license that I just purchased. The problem is when I image the server it wants me to reactivate the license, it fails when I do. How do I change the license type of the OEM to make it VL? I have heard the idea of "upgrading" but I think I am going to have an issue because my media is older than what is on the server. I am almost certain it is going to come back with a complaint on that. Any help is appreiciated. PS I ant all to understand, I am legal, I purchase the VL…

hi all hopefully my question is a simple one - can SQL Server 2005 and ISA coexist on the same windows server 2003 instalation ? In other words i would like to use ISA for its firewall to give security to my SQL database and at the same time run the proxy as well. The machine is a dual core p4 at 3.4 ghz with 2 gig ram and the database is very small (only 30 entries per day) the users on the proxy is also very small - maybe 50 maximum thanks in advance for any advice -- Paul - South Africa

Trouble logging on after upgrade
by Guest CryptiniteDemon- 2 replies

I'm upgrading from NT to 2003. Everything is smooth except for one thing. Computers that recognized the old domain can't find the new one when I try to log on. However, if I set up a new computer to be part of mydomain.mycorp.com they log on just fine. The NT domain controller was originally just mydomain. And we had XP machines set up to log into mydomain.mycorp.com. When I upgraded, it asked me to put the full name of the domain, so I typed in mydomain.mycorp.com. Now shouldn't these XP machines be able to log onto it instantly without me having to re-find the domain under the properties menu in my computer? Or am I doing something wrong?

ASR functionality

Hi, I have a Windows 2003 SBS server that has run out of space on all its drives and need to either change the drives or supply them with a new server. My first thought is the new server and start again from scratch but before I go down that line is it possible to change the drives on the existing server and set it up with bigger partitions and then do an ASR recovery into the new partition? If so do I need to use an hardware partition for example using an IBM serveraid card or can I use a Windows Partition, would the Windows partition be overwritten? Thanks for your help. anthony

Creating a User Profile template
by Guest JohnB- 0 replies

I just tried this for the first time and got mixed results. Not all settings showed up when I tried the new profile. This is on Server 2003 with the workstation being XP. This is what I did: - created an account called profile - logged in as profile and set the Desktop, etc the way I wanted it. One of the things I set was the wallpaper. I created a BMP file and saved it to My Pictures, and then chose that with Display Properties. - I then logged in with an admin account and, from System Properties>Advanced>User Profiles, I copied the profile for user "profile" to \\Server\profiles\AnotherUser - Set the Profile Path for AnotherUser to \\Server\…

Roaming Profile / Folder Redirection Conflict
by Guest aubienat- 6 replies

Has anyone experienced an issue where roaming profiles spontaneously start using folder redirection? See details below. Issue: Roaming profile fails to update on profile server. Upon investigation, App Data, MyDocs, and Desktop point directly to profile server when the folders should be on local workstation. Environment: - Windows 2003 Active Directory environment configured with roaming profiles. - Citrix environment used for remote access. - Citrix profile loads via Group Policy configuring folder redirection for App Data, MyDocs, and Desktop where source is the roaming profile server. Somehow, the configuration for roaming profiles and folder…
