Hi All, I have installed Windows 2003 server for allowing RADIUS authentication using 802.1x for wireless LAN based clients. My setup includes Windows 2003 server with AD + IAS.Remote access policies are configured to allow access to wireless devices.Access point is 3com 7760 and Radius client for the same is added in IAS. My setup is working fine when I try to connect to windows XP based laptops. Both EAP-PEAP and EAP-TLS methods are working fine. Verifying Windows Server 2008 backup
by Guest Dominick- 8 replies

I have my first Windows Server 2008 system online int he network, and I have Backup installed and operational. What I have done in the past, not that sophisticated, is I have a batch file form my workstation that would do an appropriate DIR command for every server and PC in our network, so I could tell by size and date if backups ran the night before. Took about 10 seconds to peruse the batch file output. But now, I notice the new backup grabs the disk drive and uses it as a dedicated resource -- it does not even show up in File Explorer. So how can I determine remotely whether the backup worked or not?

TS Gateway first installation
by Guest Jonathan- 0 replies

Hi, I got basic knowledge about Terminal Service 2008. Now, I would like to implement TS Gateway and please let me know how to do it. My network environmet is behind ISA 2006 where is allowed few ports from external network (VPN, Outlook Anywhere, OWA,...). I'm confused about certificate (which is my worst Windows part) - is is neccessery to use certificate to publish local W2008 server as TS Gateway? Thanks in advance.

Hi. We have a suite of Nokia E61i phones connected to our SBS 2003 server. They all connected fine when installed and have been running OK for 6 months. Now however, all phones suddenly stopped syncing obtaining the same message: Error in Exchange server. Try again later. We have restarted server and run the obvious but still the phones will not sync. Can anyone please offer any help? Thanks.

Slow browsing within folders
by Guest msnews.microsoft.com- 2 replies

Hello Everybody, I am facing a rather strange situation. I have setup an enviroment with a couple of servers one of which is acting as a file server. It is an HP DL-380G4 with RAID5 and Windows Server 2003 R2. The symptom is that even on the server console (since it is happening on the clients too) when you try to browse from one folder to another, sometimes there is a noticable delay. The symptom exists on the clients side too (Win XP Pro SP2) more often along with a long delay when they try to save, even a small word document. This server used to act as a DC, DNS, DHCP but after many tries to find out what is going on, finally I've removed these roles to…

Disable password complexity rules
by Guest Matt- 1 reply

First of all, I thought for sure I posted this question to this same board last night, but can't find it anywhere. Forgive me if I double- posted. I did try to find it. We are implementing a web app that users will be able to change their own passwords, and accounts can be unlocked by certain users. This app will also be managing all of our password requirements, age, history, complexity, etc, so I need to turn those rules off in the Default Domain Policy. All of the password policies were set (Password history, Minimum and Maximum Password age, length, and also complexity. Initially, I set all of these policies to Not Defined, thinking that would turn the…

Mapped drives and My Network Places
by Guest yaro137@googlemail.com- 4 replies

Is there any difference when accessing folders by means of a mapped drive and going all the way through My Network Places? I'm just wandering as I have a strange problem with some of the users in our network. Basically from time to time some of them and in practice always the same ones age having difficulties with accessing some folders shared on the server. They have all the permissions they need and more and it's not just the matter of getting access denied error but not being able to see any contents inside a shared folder at all. More bizaarely on other occasions they can see and access all the contents just fine. There are no limits set on how many users can…

Roaming Profiles/Folder Redirection Problem
by Guest lrichardson@auffenberg.com- 2 replies

I am trying to setup roaming profiles for my users and using folder redirection to help reduce long logon times. However, I have some people with gigabytes of music and videos that I don't want roaming with them. I want to be able to have their My Documents and Desktop folders roam, but not My Music and My Videos. Can I exclude those subfolders or do I have to exclude the Entire My Documents folder? I am using Windows 2003 Server. I found that there is an option to exclude folders from roaming profiles, however when i put "My Music" or "My Documents\My Music" they still get synchronized like everything else.

RAID 5 max disk nos
by Guest gjb- 1 reply

Hi, Is there a recommended or suggested max no of disks that should be placed in a single RAID-5 array. Recently a SAN engineer suggested that up to 9 is optimum and that as well as increased risk of multiple disk failure in a single set, performance is also affected. We have a no of 15 disk enclosures that historically have been built as single arrays whereas I think that splitting into 2 x7 with GHS would be better albeit at the cost of some storage capacity. Comments appreciated Geejay
