Fax Service stops intermittently
by Guest Ray- 0 replies
Good Day, We're running Windows 2003 server. We installed Microsoft fax, the issue we have is the fax stops receiving faxes intermittently. It will work steady for a couple of days then just stops. I'm unable to stop and restart the service since the status of the service is "starting" . I have to restart the service to get everything flowing again. Anybody else experience this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ray

Hi We are running Server 2003 R2 an all company servers. We have three branch offices and HQ, all connected through a MPLS. For some strange reason two of the three branch servers aren't displayed under My network places\"Domain". I can easily access the server by entering "\\ServerName" but not through My network places. WS2008 Hyper-V virtual machines NIC loss
by Guest Larry Scott- 1 reply

Has anyone seen this behavior? I have installed WS2008 RTM with Hyper-V role and created two virtual machines (Windows XP SP2). The install goes smoothly but after cycling the server (host) I seem to loose the NICs on the virtual machines. This has happened twice, attempting to reinstall the NICs fails as the XP client cannot find the drivers and obviously can't connect to the internet to download the drivers. Any insight appreciated.

Persistent Event ID 1030 in member server
by Guest lcrow- 0 replies

I have a W2K3 domain, single domain controller, two W2k3 member servers. The problem member server was upgraded from Windows 2000 Enterprise to W2K3 R2 Enterprise. Since then, several times a day Event 1030 is logged in the Application log. There are NO accompanying Event IDs of any other type. I have looked at all the relevant KB articles, and they either don't apply, or the suggested solutions were already in place. I can access the DC's Sysvol directory from the problem server, so I'm really mystified as to why this keeps happening. The 1030 errors match up perfectly to entries on the problem server's Security log: User Logoff: User Name: …

Renew Enterprise Root CA Certificate
by Guest Alan J. English- 0 replies

I need to extend the validity of my enterprise root certificate and my subordinate CA certificate server. How do I extend the valid date of the root? If I do this, will it make any certificates that have been issued invalid? My entire Exchange 2007 system is running with the self-signed certs issued by my subordinate CA server and if they expire, I think I'll have a HUGE issue on my hands. I'm running Win2k3 CA services on two servers. One is the Enterprise root CA and the other is the subordinate CA. The root expires next year, but I had better get this done the sooner the better. In a nutshell, how do I extend/renew the root certificate and will…

Migrating servers to new hardware
by Guest YHussein- 2 replies

Hi all, I'm in the proces of migrating our existing servers onto new hardware and was wondering what the best strategy would be. I have a rough (high-level) plan below and would be most grateful if someone could cast their eye over it and let me know if its generally sound or if there any issues with it. Ok, here goes...(apologies for the long post). EXISTING SETUP: -------------------------- I have two servers at the moment, both running Windows 2003 SP2. Their roles are as follows: 1. DC1 (the main server which is running pretty much everything): DC, FSMO, DNS, WINS, DHCP, File & Print, Exchange 2003 SP2. 2. DC2 (the backup server which al…

Windows Server 2008 perfdisk.dll causes application crash
by Guest PrasannaP- 0 replies

When loading disk performance counters in Windows Server 2008 a window may be created by a separate thread launched from the call to PdhAddCounterW. Under normal circumstances this will be fine, however our service runs under the Network Service account. This account has no permissions to create a window. The result of this is that the calling process will trap. This notification window is not always created, and we do not the exact reason why it is being launched. Here is a stack trace of the calls that attempt to add the counter: 0acdc034 76cb5aae 00000000 e2edff4e 0acdc4e4 perfdisk!OpenDiskObject+0xbd 0acdc310 76cb5897 00390668 e2edf83e 0000007a …
