I have just installed Windows Server 2008 Standard RC1, which I received as a DVD from my Action Pack subscription, but I don't appear to have the Hyper V role available to me when I go to add a role in Server Manager. Any ideas why this might be the case? thanks.

Hi, I'm having an issue using WMI to stop/start a service. I have two domains, domain1 and domain2, domain1 is where the user account and the Desktop I'm currently using is located. Domain2 is where the target Server is located. The Desktop PC in domain1 is using Windows XP Pro SP2, the Server PC in domain2 is using Windows Server 2003 SP2. There is a two way trust setup between domain1 and domain2. The user account in domain1 is a member of the Administrators group in Domain2 and is also a local administrator on the Server PC. On the Desktop in domain1 I'm running a powershell script that retrieves the WMI object for a service and then attempts to …

by Guest Pintu- 1 reply

Hi, I have mutiple servers that are hosted. This is a Domian environment. There are 3 Terminal servers with 3 Static IPs and three internal IPs. All the servers works fine except one. The server seems to be freezing up every 6- 8 hrs. During that time I see a W32Time error. Could the Time service error (not able to connect to time server) be causing the freeze up? Also, during the freeze up - I cannot log into server - I see the following error in the event logs "This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain due to the following: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon reque…

Hello, I have setup an FTP Site using IIS6.0 and can access the site using IE7. I have disabled 'Allow anonymous connections' and added a user to allow FTP access to files. When I login to the FTP server via IE7 with the dedicated username I can see my files but if I right-click a file and 'Save Target As' I receive an error message 'Login request was denied'. However, if I open the file as normal it will open it up in a web browser. I believe I have my permissions setup right. Can anyone offer advice? Thanks Wayne -- MCP

I have been having the same blue screen/ error code. Started when moving large quantity of files from 2nd physical drive(E) to 2nd partition of primary drive(D). did a restore problem seemed to split. Happened again much later doing same thing + crashed all restore points. Problem now persists. I'm just a hack, but the only answer I found at Microsoft was to replace drive. CHKDSK /R & /I functions also cause crashes (on D: only). can transfer from D: but transfering to D: causes crashes opening pic files on D: crashes at various time intervals My gut answer is the NTFS file structure has problems with newly created bad sectors my current test- ha…

After upgrading our DHCP and Term server from Sevrer 2k to server 2k3 our existing terminal services users stared getting the following error: "To logon to this remote computer you must be granted the allow logon right. By default members of the remote desktop users group have this right. If you are not a member of the remote desktop users group or another group that has this right, or if the remote desktop user group does not have this right you must be granted this right manually." The other users that were on another term server that already had win server 2k3 were not affected. If we add Domain Admin to their member group they are able to logon, but of …

I have a vista x64 machine which seems to be getting an old WSUS server address (which at one point was in our GPO, but isnt now)... IE: if i go into the LM computer section of the registry and remove the entries.. then run gpupdate /force .. it pops the two entries back in place, not the new server name and port (other machines are fine).. Also.. if i do an rsop.msc from this machine.. i can see that the GPO policy for auto updates is being applied.. however, there is an error.. on the error information tab i have under component name: Registry and status failed.. error is "registry failed due to error listed below. Unspecified error" This appea…
