I tried to connect our internet connection to one PC and somehow i notice a big difference in the internet speed. i havent ask our isp yet about this problem, could there be a problem with the win03 r2 configurations that could cause the internet slowness...:) -- Message posted via WinServerKB.com http://www.winserverkb.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx/windows-s…

On Windows 2003 Server 32 bit i can share fine with the Mac by 1. Local Security Policy - Disalbling "Digital Sign Communications" 2. Computer Management - Share Folders - Configure File Server For Macintosh - and set it to "Apple Clear Text" But on 64 bit there is no option to "Configure File Server For Macintosh". When i try to connect from a mac i get * If using afp it just times out and says there is no server * If using smb (samba) i get "Could not connect to the server because the name of password is incorrect". But the authentication box never comes up I have properly set the Local Security policy and i can share files with PC's. Anyone have any …

R2 Anonymous Security Issue
by Guest confusedr2@yahoo.com- 4 replies

I installed a 2003 R2 file server. I setup some folders and applied NTFS security permissions to them. I tested using a test domain logon w/ no rights to make sure that the standard user couldn't access the secured folders. Everything worked as expected. Jump forward a couple of weeks and I have discovered that if you are not logged into the domain - you can access the server with more rights than a standard user. For example - you can access the administrative shares, you can access folders that have NTFS security applied, etc. At first I thought it was a share rights issue, but you can't even edit the share rights for the admin shares. After doing some…

Renaming workstation after WDS image?
by Guest Nutzer- 1 reply

All, Just finished setting up my WDS server to image XP workstations. I created a sysprep.inf unattended file, syspreped the machine and captured, then imaged the machine. Everything worked out fine, except to rename the machine to "mycompany-XXX". I set the properties in WDS to set the format of the renaming to the correct syntax "mycompany-%03#" but every time I image up a workstation, it would give me "mycompa-ANXB" or something like that. Is my sysprep.inf incorrect? I set the "ComputerName=*" Shouldn't WDS be doing this correctly? Also, I set in WDS to join the workstation to a certain folder object in AD but it still puts it in the "Computers" object b…

E-mail when performance alert triggers
by Guest Paul-Henri Lampe- 4 replies

Hello All ! I would like to get an e-mail when an alert is triggered by the performance monitor on a Windows 2003 SBS system. The alert I want to get like that is when I'm running low on disk space on one of my logical drives. To do that, I configured an alert by following this technical note: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324752 . I followed these steps (sorry if the options aren't exactly the ones displayed by Windows: I'm translating them from French): .. Server Management -> System Tools -> Performance Logs and Alerts -> Alerts : I created one there monitoring the "Disk Full" counter ... General tab: added "Disk Full counter", with a l…
