Need VPN Server Help....
by Guest Eric Miller- 2 replies

I have a (non-pro) virtual server as a Guest of my Win2003 R2 but my VPN server can't connect to the internet nor can I connect to it from my labtop or my host. I have two NIC's for VPN: 1) for the VPN using the Internal NIC, 2) connect to the VPN Server, should I be able to connect to the internet. Windows Firwall isn't active for this NIC, I'm using Active Armor from nVidia, but even when I disable it I still can't connect either way. I use the IP assigned to the NIC "192.168.0.100", I getting the Error 800.

.shd and .spl files
by Guest Joanne- 2 replies

I am not sure if I am in the right group. If not, please point me to the correct group and accept my apology for the intrusion. I am getting a report from WindowsServer2003 that there are some 90 .spl and .shd files not backing up. I would like to delete these files, but am getting a message that they are in use and cannot be deleted. Having search the internet, I do know that they are printer shadow and spooler files, but that is about all the info I could gather. Could someone please help me find the info on how to delete these? - or do they get deleted automatically after a certain time period? I do notice on my report that the number of these files does…

In order to correct a problem with Office 2007 and RPC over Http, I need to use setspn to deregister and reregister a SPN. My question is simple: Can I do this on the fly without affecting my Exchange server and users? Since I am unregistering and reregistering, I am concerned. Thanks -- Jim A.

Large Disk Layout, Best Practices
by Guest Brian McGrew- 0 replies

Good morning All! I've got a brand new server with a RAID 5 controller in it and 6x750GB drives. The box is going to run Win2K3 and be solely a data server and also host Services for Unix. What is the best way to lay out the hard drives and should I do it in hardware or software? Right now the hardware has all six drives in a single RAID 5 array totally up to about 3.75TB of space. I nstalled a copy of Win2K3 Enterprise but it only sees the first 1.75TB of space and the remaining 2TB is unusable and also, I can not covert it to a dynamic disk. Am I taking the totally the wrong approach to this or did I just do something wrong? Or, do I need to g…

Service Pack Question for DC's
by Guest Christian- 1 reply

Hi, I had posted this question earlier, but I'm not sure I got the answer to the core question I had asked. I have a single domain controller running right now at Windows Server 2003 SP1. I have a second server running at Windows Server 2003 SP2 that is ready to be promoted. What issues/problems may show up if I promote this server running SP2 while the other server is still at SP1? Is it best practice to apply SP2 to the first server before promoting the second? Or, should I downgrade the second server to SP1 and then run DCPROMO? Thank you for your time, -Chris

Optical fiber (O.T.?)
by Guest rosgiof@hotmail.it- 4 replies

Hi all. I'm very sorry for the O.T., but I really don't know where to post my question. Is it a good idea to connect two ethernet 100Mbits LANs of two separated buidings (distance about 60 meters) with an underground optical fiber cable connected to 2 switches (1 each building) each with a fiber-module ? I mean, is it safe for the risk of lightnings, electric potential differences between buildings and other electric or electic-magnetic problems that could fry or damage my LANs ? Thanks a lot for the help, and excuse me for my bad english.... Bye bye, Rosgiof.
