Hello: I am running Windows 2003 Server SP2. I installed an application. I am unable to launch the application by doubling clicking on it. However, when I right-mouse click I get two options: 1. Current user (it shows the user name) in brackets. I cannot launch the application with the checkbox (Run this program with restricted access) checked or unchecked. 2. The following user: When I use the same User ID I am signed on as, I am able to launch the application. What's going on? Venki

by Guest Marcy- 0 replies

I wanted to give Internet printing a try and was reading up on KB. I've followed the KB and I don't hvae the windows component they mention: "In the Components list of the Windows Components Wizard, double-click Web Application Server, click to select the Internet Information Services (IIS) " this doesn't appear as an option. IIS is installed but under Web Service Extensions. Internet printing isn't an option either. This is the Standard 2003 R2 version, any ideas? thanks

Our DC is a W2K3 Enterprise Server. We have a backup DC /webserver. Does it make sense to run DHCP from both servers? There doesn't seem to be a way to replicate DHCP servers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello I have a windows server 2003 basic edition. On this server I installed an apache web server, and I run a web application. The language scripting used is php. The web application is based on a few pages that call executable applications written in c#. This c# applications make operations on the windows media services, and doing stuff like create/remove publishing points (for those who know what this mean). The web pages, a few of them, are written in a way that they MUST get the response from the c# application, regarding the success or failure of the operation they had to make. To call an executable exe file from the php language script, you use a…

Logical Drives and RAID 5
by Guest rcir88- 1 reply

I have a server running Windows 2003 Server Standard which currently uses a RAID 1+0 array. I will be installing two more hard drives for a total of 4 physical drives and changing the array to a RAID 5 system. This will require reinstalling everything. The question is should I create logical drives on the array that match the logical drives I create on Windows or just creat one logical drive on the array and create a different number of drives on Windows? I need only two logical drives, one for the system and programs and one for data. Is there any advantage of doing it one way or the other, or doesn’t it matter?

I have Server 2003 Enterprise edition and I am seeing all print jobs originated at the server remaining in the print queue after printing. Print jobs originating from the server remain in the printer queue after printing regardless of which printer I use. The status of the jobs shows "Sent to printer".

2003 Server hangs on shutdown w/KVM
by Guest Peter- 1 reply

I have a number of 2003-R2 (SP2) servers (various motherboards) that hang upon shutdown when restarting after WSUS (v3) updates have run This never happened when we were running Windows 2000 (SP4) on exactly the same servers All are monitored via KVMs and all I have to do to kick the server back into life is to change to that server on the KVM and shutdown/ restart runs through normally. I'm sure it's a KVM issue (they are all different models of Serverlink products with PS2/VGA connectors). I've seen similar discussions about modifying the ACPI settings on the motherboard but I'm not exactly sure what it is that I should be looking at changing Suggesti…

Does Windows Server 2003 keep a log of all deleted files and the users that deleted them? I'm running Windows Small Business Server Premium 2003. We have employees who have just recently left the company, but prior to leaving they deleted several shared files from the server.

Authentication Problem
by Guest TagaR- 2 replies

I have a remote site with Cisco router and 2 ports were configured for two subnets. The first subnet was for DRP and the second subnet was for CLIENTS. The DRP has W2003 SP2 DC and is configured to provide IP to the CLIENTS subnet using the Cisco router IP Helper. This configuration works ok. The problem is the clients on CLIENTS subnet are authenticated not by the DRP DC subnet but by the MAINHO DC remotely. How is this authentication really works? What should I do that CLIENTS subnet will authenticate on DRP DC if the DC is available? Thanks TagaR

When I look at the task bar properties and customize to always show -- it is i there showing 99% completed, but it will not show on the task bar. Is this because it is not done yet???? It has been a few hours now and I can not see it. Any thoughts thx
