Help.... We have a storage server that is being preped for production and it will NOT shutdown or restart???? It is an HP storage works 600 - with MS Storage server 2003 loaded. I haven't had much luck in finding anything - What I find points to Avast virus protection - We use MaAffee- and I actaully have tried disabling that, which did not make a difference. We have teamed nics - which we have unteamed... did not help. I have all updates current, including SP2... I had to do cold shutdowns to apply these. To no avail. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! thanks in advance for your time and help!!! Cindy -- Cindy B

We have just upgraded to Windows Server 2003 from Windows NT. We are having a problem with the new Generic/Text only print driver and I would like to be able to use the old print driver. What do I have to do to remove the XP/2003 Generic/Text driver and just leave the old Windows NT driver? Thanks

Need 2003 versions of REG.EXE and ADVAPI32.DLL on XP!
by Guest JayDee- 1 reply

I know this is a rather esoteric question, but... I noticed that some features of REG.EXE that exist on 2003 do not work on XP. I tracked this down to an older version of ADVAPI32.DLL and REG.EXE (08.04.2004) on XP than the newer ones on 2003 (02.17.2007). Unfortunately, copying the two files and trying to re-register the newer ADVAPI32.DLL on XP does not work. Is there any other way to get the new version of these two files working properly on an XP Professional SP2 machine? Thanks! - JayDee

Win2003 Server Help request

Tried to ask a question about Windows 2003 Server on this newsgroup previously but did not get any response. Perhaps if I rephrase my question, someone could point me in the right direction. Running a new installation of Windows 2003 on a corporate network with local machine admin rights. The machine is part of the corporate domain but I do not have access to the domain. The server is only for file sharing. Domain users can access shared folders. My desire to block write access to the shared folder for everyone except the required managers and techs is stymied by the fact that every time I try to setup a user group for the selected users, the server reques…

by Guest ALan- 0 replies

Anyone knows if there are any requirements for windows right management service (RMS) installation in relationship to windows certificates authority’s server “versions”. Situation We are planning to deploy RMS but our environment already have windows 2000 certificate authority servers and a combination of windows 2003 and windows 2000 DC servers. We are worry that the Windows 2000 certificate server and RMS may create issue. Yes we are planning to upgrade the certificate serves to 2003 but this may take some time.

Help giving pass through for iMac's on Windows 2003 server ISA 200
by Guest PghTech- 0 replies

I have a Windows 2003 ISA 2004 server. We also have a number of Mac's that don't authenticate against the proxy server at login, and therefore require authentication through the browser when they go to get on the internet. The problem we have ran into is that we have installed Adobe CS3 software which requires that it goes out and registers. Unfortunately, since this all occurs behind the scenes, there is no way to authentic and the software fails to access the internet. The only solution we can think of is to give the iMac's pass through abilities of the ISA server. Not being an ISA admin or expert can someone tell me what the best way to go about …

Program to create network schematic
by Guest news.zen.co.uk- 5 replies

Hi i'm trying to find a decent program that will visually map out my work's network (running on Windows SBS 2003) and create a network schematic with the minimum of fuss, and this for someone who has a little networking knowledge...but not much. i've tried several programs already, but none of them do quite what i want. i'm looking for something that doesn't need me to punch in all the ip addresses of the workstations and routers etc, but can work it out for itself and display them in a nice and easy to understand visual way. Can anyone recommend a program - and it doesn't have to be freeware - that will work out all the ip addys and ideally, show t…

TCPIP NDISWAN 4191 Event Error
by Guest Harry Bates- 0 replies

Server 2003 Enterprise Event Type: Error Event Source: Tcpip Event Category: None Event ID: 4191 Date: 1/9/2008 Time: 9:22:55 AM User: N/A Computer: MTNGT500 Description: IP could not open the registry key for adapter TCPIP\Parameters\Adapters\NDISWANIP. Interfaces on this adapter will not be initialized. Obviously, a lot of you have seen this error in the past. As always with Win2000, we would uninstall TCP/IP and re-install it to fix the problem (KB284955). Also, obvious is that M$ has made the IP stack a core component from Windows XP on to current OSes. A few years ago I ran into this problem and we were not able to fix the error in 2003 …

Taskbar icons
by Guest Joe- 0 replies

This is probably an old question, but I can't configure my taskbar icons the way I want them by right clicking and "customize". Yes, I hit "apply" and "OK". Their status seems to change on their own (hide, show, hide when inactive), and I have actually watched this happen while I had the menu open. How do you make Windows use your settings only?

Hello, I need to establish a trust between two domains, one is a NT4 Domain and the other is a Win2003 AD mixed mode. I have a router between the two domains. I have added a static mapping of the "win2003" domain to the WINS of NT4 domain. I have also added to the lmhosts file (in WinNT4) the entry of #PRE #DOM "win2003" domain.
