Hello all, We finally made the move...from now on, we are running on Windows 2003 and XP clients. We've just migrate from NDS to AD, and we are proud to do so... Our integrators, use a software from Quest to do the remove of all of the Novell Client on every workstations. After that step, we want to remove all traces of IPX/SPX on every pc's, now the issue is that... We, don't want to go around on every workstations; type the run command ncpa.cpl, go trough the Properties of the NIC and remove everything that is relate to IPX/SPX, simply keep MS client and TCP/IP and remove all the other unecessary protocol. by Guest BestSysEng- 0 replies

I have not been able to send quota notifications to users' email addresses. I can send notifications to explicitly specified Administrators' email addresses. How do I get 2003 Server R2 to send notifications to users that they have exceeded quota limits? I have enabled the "send email to the user who exceeded the threshold" setting and it is still not working. I assumed it was use the user login name of the person who exceeded the threshold along with the domain name for the specified SMTP server. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

DPM can't see my Quantum ATL Superloader L600
by Guest jaxdevo- 0 replies
Hi, I really like the features that DPM offer, have installed and setup DPM on server with limited drive space. Want to backup to disk, then archive to tape but DPM doesn't see my Quantum ATL Superloader L600 LTO tape library. SCSI can see the devices, the drivers are installed. Only thing DPM can see is the HP LTO tape drive inside the tape library. This will be a serious limitation to DPM is library support is limit to bleeding edge libraries. Anyone know of a way or site to get this working? Thanks in advance for the support! -- Jaxdevo

x64 Process using x32 Dll
by Guest Jackson- 0 replies
Hi, I have a requirement to allow a 64bit application running under Server 2003 R2 x64 to call a 32 bit dll. (The dll is from a third party so I'm stuck with 32 bit). FRom what I've managed to find the way to do this is by adding a COM wrapper around the 32 bit dll. Is this the best/only way to achieve this? Any pointers to documentation for Server 2003 that describes this would also help. --------- Regards Jackson

Upgrading a certificate server from Win2K to Win2K3 Options
by Guest ttripp- 0 replies

I want to upgrade my Windows certificate servers (root, intermediate and issuing servers) from Windows 2000 Server to Windows 2003. I already have the licensing arraiged. Apart from the normal sort of things done before an upgrade (good backups, etc.), is there anything in particular to watch out for when upgrading certificate servers, or is it like any other server upgrade?

I am trying to fnd the proper configuration for a Windows Server 2003 32-bit enterprise edition with 8 GBs RAM. Does the 4GB pagefile size limitation stay in effect on enterprise editions? If it is, then is the proper configuration for a server with more than 4 GBs of RAM? Thanks Paul

by Guest Dave- 0 replies
Hi, For some reason in a Citrix Session on a Windows 2003 server I cannot switch Control Panel to Classic View. Clicking on the 'Switch to Classic View' link does not do anything. I have trawled through Group Policy to see if this is somehow turned off somewhere but cannot find anything. I need to get to the Mail icon as I have a user with an Outlook problem and I suspect his mail profile. Any ideas of either how to get to the mail icon or how to switch to classic view? thanks Dave

Manually removing a network adapter entry from the registry
by Guest medina- 0 replies
I've recently converted a physical windows 2003 box to a VM using VMware's ESX converter utility. So far, all is functioning the same on the Virtual server. The warning I experience is after I configure the IP address on the virtual NIC within the VM (matching that of the old physical server), a warning dialog box pops up stating that "There is another network card with the same address that is NO LONGER attached to the system.... there may be problems if both adapters become active." After clicking ok, all is functioning well and I have network connectivity. I would like to remove the old hardware NIC reference from the registry to avoid this message …

Once a week kerberos failure between web and db server.
by Guest JimLad- 0 replies
Hi, Once a week to the second we get a Kerberos failure between our web server and db server. This is causing us considerable problems. Everything runs fine the rest of the week. The problem lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes, apparently dependent on the number of users on at the time. The website is running IIS6 on Windows 2003 SP2. The db server is running SQL Server 2000 SP4 on Windows 2003 SP1. The domain controller is running Windows 2003 SP1. We are using constrained delegation and protocol transition. The message on the KDC/DC is (where S03 is the dc, S72 with the web server and S10 is the db server): Event Type: Failure Audit Event Sour…

Restrict feature access on shared printer
by Guest myfaux@gmail.com- 0 replies
Hi, I have one printer shared from Windows 2003 server. I would like to restrict certain users from being able to go in change the printing preferences to print in color. I have the everyone group in the security tab of the printer and it has only print checked off not manage documents or manage printers. When logging in as a user i can modify the printing preferences to whatever I want. I thought this would be greyed for users unless they had rights above just print. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

WSUS & .NET updates
by Guest Freaky- 0 replies
Hey there, our WSUS server pushes .NET framework v3. This all is fine no problems. All recent computers however thus do not get the .NET v2 framework, I presume because v3 is backwards compatible. This on itself is no issue, but all recent computers now have an exclamation mark because they would be missing 2 updates. Both .NET v2 essential updates. The computers never tell us these updates need to be installed. I presume because there is no .NET v2 installed on it. Anyone know how to get rid of the erroneous exclamation marks? Thx

I have created some log files using perfmon on a server, but when I copy the .blg files to my local PC, I can’t view them, or it opens up a perfmon instance with counters from my PC. I have created about 14 log files using the perfmon utility, and they are all dated correctly. So how can I copy them to my desktop and view? Desktop = XP; Server = 2003. thx

IE7 x64 works but IE7 x32 doesn't after server reboot....?
by Guest Devonshire- 0 replies

Recently I shut down my server 2003 and the 4 clients when I went away for the Thanksgiving holiday. I fired everything back up last night and discovered a few problems: 1. There are 2 DNS error messages in the Server 2003 DNS Event Log: The DNS server was unable to open zone _msdcs.G-4.local in the Active Directory from the application directory partition ForestDnsZones.G-4.local. This DNS server is configured to obtain and use information from the directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and reload the zone. The event data is the error code. For more information, s…

Memory Leak-Poolmon/Process Explorer Question
by Guest compsosinc@gmail.com- 0 replies
We are using SBS2000 -- not 2003 we know--but thought we would post to this group since the question could be relative to Server 2003. In the last 3 weeks we began to have a memory leak in the non-paged pool in which the server would have to be rebooted after exactly 1 week to the day & within a 3-hour timeframe. We ran poolmon.exe to help pinpoint the culprit and have collected data over a 4 day period. In poolmon three are (2) suspect tags: THre File We now want to run Process Explorer v11.04 to narrow down the offending process(s), etc. Based on the above tags, what do we look for in Process Explorer? Thanks!

DNS CName and SQL 2005 Bulk Insert
by Guest dphelps- 0 replies

I asked this question in the SQL forum and haven't received a reply so I thought I'd ask you folks (your probably smarter). Does anyone know why a SQL 2005 Bulk Insert can't read a file (Access Denied) that contains a CName in the UNC but can read the same file when the UNC contains the server's NetBOIS name? If you do, do you know a way around the CName issue? Could it have something to do with the LoopbackCheck in SP1? BTW, other than this SQL issue, the UNC works just fine with the CName. I followed these two knowledge base articles to orginally get the CName to work: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926642 (I used Method 2) & http://support.m…

Windows 2003 server restarts instead of shutting down
by Guest ellenda@gmail.com- 0 replies

I wanted to post this in case anyone else ever ran into the problem I had today. I have a HP DL360G5 server with Windows 2003 SP1 that would restart instead of shutting down. Searched the HP boards and discovered it was a NIC driver issue. Upgraded the server NIC Driver "HP NC-Series Multifunction Driver" to the latest version 3.4.10.0 to resolve the issue. A link to the HP support forum I found: http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/bizsupport/questionanswer.... It also affects DL380G5's according to the forum. Thanks, Ellen
