by Guest Yinka- 0 replies

Good day All, I have large network I would like to scan to find out the operating system softwares on some of them and also the microsoft softwares installed on them. On the network most users are on the domain and some are not. Also some computers have their windows firewall turned on. I do not have MOMS or SMS on my network. We are basically trying to scan to make sure we are complaint in all ways. Is there a tool that can do this even if it's a vbscript that I might need to modify? Also what limitations would I have considering that not all the computers are on the domain and the firewall issue on some? Thank you, Yinka

by Guest Bing- 0 replies

After I upgraded Windows 2000 domain controllers to Windows 2003 domain controllers, a lot of servers have the following warming message: "Replication of license information failed because the License Logging Service on server "Domainctrl" could not be contacted." I found a article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824196) regarding the License Logging Service in Windows 2003 Server. It said that LLS will not be included in future versions of the Windows operating system. Can I just ignore these warming messages or disable the LLS services? Thanks.

ever since I installed server2003 R2 stardard on my machine I have been receiving a BSOD every now and again when trying to logon to the server. Sometimes (like now!!) I am not able to logon even after many hard restrarts. Usually, after a bit of playing around, in (for no understandble reason) works again for a few weeks. If I don't try to logon, the server seems to be working just fine, (shares open, AD active etc.) When I try to logon I get the BSOD. with the following stop msg: 0X0000008e (0xc0000005 0x808bc9dd 0xb7c20914 0x00000000) I must admit, my hardware is not server built hardware, but a regular PC with strong processor and RAID Any ideas???

Hi, I am trying to sort the DNS setup. We are using windows 2003 and exchange 2003. The current setup is: Exchange Server is the primary DNS server while two domain controllers have the secondary DNS. Also funnily enough the two domain controllers have AD Intergrated reverse zones, while the primary DNS server has its reverse zone which is primary (not AD intergrated). My proposed goal is to AD Integrate the DNS. These are the steps I am taking in order to get their: 1) Go to the forward zone i.e. domain.com -> General and change the type from primary to secondary. 2) corresponding go to the domain controller. Locate the forward zone i.e …

Have a Windows 2003 SP2 RIS Server on which we have created 4 new riprep images on December, 21th. 2007. All images are nearly identical (mainly different HAL's), and diskspace starts to running out. Have run "risetup -check" after creating the images. Have now the famous groveler 8194 - USN Log overrun eventlog entries which so many people have on Windows 2003 and for which Microsoft only provides one completely outdated KB article for Windows 2000: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=247611. They also mention a tool grovctrl.exe that is not available in Windows 2003. And the Windows 2000 Version of the tool does not work on Windows 2003. Since December 21th…

I have 3 DC lets call them Main, Exchange and Util. Until recently everything has been working great. the strange issue is I can log into the domain just fine It maps all the drives except for one of the DC's which is Main. Main is the Infastructure Master and first DC. whenever it tries to map the drive on the server it asks for a username and password. this hapens on a couple of different computers on different accounts but not all. and it seems to roam. The permisions on the share are set to everyone Read Write etc. and the file security is the same. if I input my username and password it will connect but for some reason it is prompting me. Almos…
