Is there a way to do this via VBS script files somehow.. I already install the printer via the vbs script file.. every time they log in.. all 12 versions of our network printers get installed. I'd like a way to avoid installing the printer if it already exists? Thanks in advance..

Win 2003 Server - Changed M/Board- Errors & Issues

Hi The motherboard on my test Window's 2003 Server died yesterday. Following details from a Microsoft Document, I swapped the motherboard and ran a repair installation on the disk. Since then I seem to be getting some strange errors.. I can't seem to access any '.msc' either by the normal shortcuts or via control panel. Running MMC and adding them from there works fine. Also I get errors trying to run windows update. Is there anything as a 'quick' fix you can suggest I need to run ?? I will be replacing this machine in the next week or so. Thanks

Re: Disconnected Network Drive - Zombie Drive? You may want to check to see if you have offline folders enabled. If they are you will not be able to delete that mapping. -- mikeyspike1961 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mikeyspike1961's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=36026 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=11685 http://forums.techarena.in

Cannot delete a folder
by Guest Erling Herstad- 3 replies

Dear Sirs. I've read the post and replies to Scott Leff's post from 14.12.2007 regarding similar issue, and none of the links/suggestions worked for me. I have a windows 2003 standard server (32-bit) running on a HP Proliant server with a SAN files storage attached, it's a fileserver + domain controller. Strangely one of my users have created a folder with a space at the end of the name: "New delivery ". I cannot delete, rename or move this folder. There are no security button. I can however rename a parent folder but this causes no effect on the problematic folder. I've run chkdsk, running on all the latest firmware, drivers and updates. Any suggestions…

Best Approach to Attach Users to a new Domain
by Guest AU- 5 replies

Hello, All the foundation including the necessarily servers such as dc, file, dns, dhcp, print etc have been installed and given their appropriate information. (user accounts made, dhcp scope defined, GPs created, file quotas set). Basically everything fro the server side is completed; it's only the user side now. I now have the task to attach some 60+ users comprised of laptops and desktops to the domain. All of these users have been logging on to their local machine profile in a workgroup environment for the past 10+ years. Now my question is, how can I attach all of these users to the domain with the least amount of admin effort and interruption…

Win2003 SP2 Upgrade RDP Problem
by Guest Bruce J- 3 replies

I have recently upgraded a Windows 2003 server connected to an SBS 2003 domain to SP2. All worked fine for a while until I uninstalled the "Terminal Server" role and I lost RDP access. Do I need the Terminal Server role for remote access? If not, how can I regain remote access? The server is not listening on port 3389 anymore (when i check remotely using PSExec remote command tool). The Terminal Server & RPC services are running. -- Bruce J MCP, MCDST, Network+

QuickLaunch Refresh - How to
by Guest Bob- 5 replies

Hi, I've my domain users %AppData% redirected to a server share and part of that is the QuickLaunch area (next to the "Start" button). Because I have a mixed environment (Vista/XP & Office 2003/2007), the shortcuts in the QuickLaunch need to be reassembled depending upon the workstation the user logs onto. I've written a script that will perform this task for me, but on occasion the QuickLaunch will not refresh so as to display the correct icons (even though my script has the proper shortcuts in place). The only solution I have for this is to have the user disable "Show Quick Launch" and then re-enable it. (Or log on/off). The Desktop on th…

Hello. I am looking for a solution to using the powermanagment drivers from AMD with a dual core opteron on a Win2003 SP2 system. SP2 seems to be the problem? Any know if Microsot has a solution for Win2003 SP1, similar to the fix for Win2003 SP1, to support AMD PowerNow driver (Cool'n'quiet) for dual core Opterons? It sure seems like Win2003 SP2 does not support ACPI processor performance states (effectively no support for AMD PowerNow! in SP2)? The problem occures after a while using the latest AMD PowerNow driver (also happened in SP2 with previous drivers). The system stop error logged is 0x000009C similar to KB924441. Ref. to support fo…

Virtual Server 2005 hosted on Server 2003
by Guest v2win- 0 replies

I recently performed a clean install of Windows Server 2003, SP2, with all current updates as a domain member server. To this, I installed Virtual Server 2005, as a complete install (i.e., all features installed). I then configured a new virtual machine and virtual disk with the intent of installing another instance of Server 2003, for testing purposes. After the successful installation of Virtual Server 2005 and configuration of the Web interface, authenticating as the signed-on user, I rebooted the host machine. During bootup, the host server freezes on the WindowsServer2003 start-up screen indefinitely. After forcefully shutting down the machine,…

2003 file server with Backup Exec hangs
by Guest Paul Welsh- 0 replies

Hi all I have an HP DL380 G4 with 4 GB RAM running Windows 2003 SP2 Standard running Backup Exec 11 with an attached Quantum autoloader. The autoloader is connected via an LSI Logic PCI-X Ultra320 SCSI controller. I see the driver is dated 1/10/02. All was going well until I added direct attached storage to the server in the shape of an HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 60 containing 5 x 250 GB SATA disks in a RAID 10 configuration (one disk is a hot spare). The controller for this is a PCI-X HP Smart Array P600 SAS / SATA Storage Controller. I upgraded the memory at the same time to 4 GB from 1 GB. The SATA drives are used by other servers to back…
