unknown program creating osc file eating up disk space
by Guest joe vaughan- 7 replies

I have a process that fires off on the 1st of every month. I can't locate where it's coming from, or who made it. My Trend anti-virus doesn't detect it as a virus. It's a process that continually renames itself something different every time it runs. It creates a random file name ending in .osc in my windows\temp directory. It eats up all my free space on my c:\ drive, causing my print jobs and other tasks to fail. I'm able to identify the process because it's an exe that's also put into the windows\temp directory. Today the exe name is YYB6A4.exe. Every month the exe icon is a dog. I kill the process, then delete the osc file. It appears to laun…

Could this be the problem I'm having with my ftp transfer?
by Guest mark4asp- 4 replies

As previously described: Subject: FTP download failure - fails at exactly the same point in the transfer file. Date: Mon, 17 Dec 2007 17:10:02 GMT Message-ID: <01d785b7$0$21126$c3e8da3@news.astraweb.com> The ftp.exe program I was using to get a daily copy of my backup database from the web server stopped working. My network admin blamed the server host. The server host tested the server and blamed our network or internet connection. Yesterday, after setting keep alive messages on in FileZilla, I was able to get a sucessful transfer. Could this be the problem: ftp uses 2 connections via different ports - a control and a transfer connection. …

Hi all, I've 2 machines with Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition R2 (Engliah version) SP2, up and running from few days, one is a DC (and hold the PDC Emulator role), the other is a Exchange Server (Exchange Server 2003 SP1). In both machines I see this warning in the event log: Source: W32Time Category: None Type: Warning Event ID: 50 Description: The time service detected a time difference of greater than 5000 milliseconds for 900 seconds. The time difference might be caused by synchronization with low-accuracy time sources or by suboptimal network conditions. Answer Files

Hello there, I have a question concerning answer files. When I Extract Setupmgr.exe from deploy.cab from the Tools folder on WIN2K3, Setupmgr comes up just fine to make the answer file. The thing that I do not get under the Advanced Settings is the Windows Components that you are supposed to get so you can automate which Components to turn on and off. You are supposed to be able to do this in Windows 2003 unlike in 2002 where you had to manually add in the components part of the answer (.sif) file. Much appreciated.

Shadow Copied not being created
by Guest Wolfgang M- 2 replies

Dear All, here's my problem (I am probably missing a very simple step): I am running Win2003 server, one partition (system & data), and there is an MSDE SQL server on it that came with the backup software. No other services like Exchange or so installed. I have enabled Volume Shadow Copies on C: with schedule settings: Daily, Start Time 13:30, Schedule Task Daily every 1 Day(s). However, the "Shadow copies of selected volume" shows only the shadow copies I created manually using the "Create Now" button. Event log show no raleted entries. Any help would be very welcome! Anonymous login to share
by Guest Gaspar- 5 replies

I have a Windows 2003 Server folder that I want to share to everyone without them having to login. I added "Anonymous Logon" to folder's security (Read & Execute, List Folder Contents and Read permissions), created the share and added "Anonymous Logon" with read permissions. But when I try to access the logon from a Windows XP, the login prompt appears. Any ideas? Thanks!
