"Printer cannot be removed. Access is denied"
by Guest Alan Truism- 2 replies

I have a problem with a printer on a Windows 2003 server, running terminal services. Whenever anyone tries to print to it, they get an "access denied" error. Whenever I log on administratively to the server, and try to view the properties of that installed printer I get an access denied error. I can't even delete, rename, or remove the share on that printer. No matter what I try to do I get that error. Even if I logon to the local administrator account. I've restarted the print spooler service and the same thing happens. The printer is called "Plain". I created a new installation on the same server, pointing to the same printer, using the same print driv…

Can I redirect Update files?
by Guest GerryA- 3 replies

Guys, can anyone tell me if it is possible to redirect the Microsoft Update files? I have a Windows SBS 2003 server and wish to point the automatic updates to a different location other than C:\Windows simply for easier disk management but can find no way of doing this. Thought I could use mounting but you can only mount empty directories so that didn't help much. Any suggestions?

Server error messages every 30 hours
by Guest samizza- 7 replies
This problem started two weeks ago and occurs after the server has run approx. 30 hours. The errors seem related and all seem to occur with a couple of minutes of each error. Once the errors occur, Event Viewer messages repeat every few minutes (for hours) until I reboot the server. After rebooting the server, it will run fine with no errors, Event Viewer, for another 30 hours or so, before repeating the same errors. The server is about 3 yrs. old. and up until now, I've never had any type of problem with this server. I haven't installed any new software on the server and its scans clean (AV and Spyware). The errors that occur, in Event Viewer, are Applic…

by Guest Daniel- 0 replies

Hi guys, I am unable to access a mapped network shared folder after mapping it. I tried to mapped to another folder, it works. I had checked security settings and also permissions, gave it a full access, but still it doesn't work. The strangest thing is, when I mapped from the "Run" box, it works! Same folder, same server, everything same. Just that when I mapped it under right click "My Computer", map network drive, i still can mapped, but have message " Access is denied". Anybody have any solutions? Thanks in advance!

Performance counter: The average values always take the no activitysampling interval into account? Hi, I was checking my performance counters recorded on my server, and found something unexpected. say my sampling interval is 15 seconds, and the time I record the performance counter is 60 seconds. For example, Avg. Disk Bytes/Transfer the first interval (15 seconds): 200 the second interval (30 seconds): 0 the third interval (45 seconds) : 400 the fourth interval (60 seconds): 0 There are only two transfers during 60 seconds, and the average disk bytes/transfer should be calculated as: (200+400)/2 = 300 But the perfmon give…
