Hi I'm using a hosted server with windows 2003 64 bit web edition installed. For some reason when i want to add an ODBC connection, there are only Microsoft SQL options in the list, and not Access (which is what i need). Does anyone know how to get the Access options to appear? I thought they should usually be there by default. thanks in advance

XP Pro Activation Issues
by Guest a.robertson- 1 reply

It seems to be that this is the current 'hot topic' and it unfortunate that i am adding to it. After having bought a new laptop, it annoys to me that i have had to send it back to the factory thinking that there may have been some hardware/software reason that caused the problem - the problem being of XP Pro asking to be activated, after i had already done so. I have now tried the telephone service 3 times now only to find that i am still 'locked out' - i cant do anything about it either as when i did manage to speak to a rep over the phone regarding this issue, after i had asked the question, was promptly hung up on. This is not what i would call …

Windows 2003 Server Enterprise, or Small Business Server
by Guest chris_huh- 6 replies

We are looking at properly setting up the business's network and i was wondering which would be the better option. There would only be about 4 or 5 client PCs and one server, maybe a network printer too. Looking at the two i would imagine SBS would be the better option, as it has Outlook Web Access, which would be very useful, and by name is designed for small businesses. Enterprise seems like it might be a bit too much for this size network. Is this right?

We have two DC in one Site. The one Domai Controller who hold all fsmo is functioning ver fine. The second DC which was holding the Global Catalog crashes dueto HD failure. Now I took another HD and installed Windows 2003 Server and dcpromo as a member of existing Active Directory. Because I was not able to demote, the NTDS-setting is still the name of the other Server. Now the two Server are not able to replicate to one another. NTDS-KCC error. Is it Possible to repair? Any Help? Thank you in advance -- alan

Net Start
by Guest CLM- 1 reply

I'm a total newbie. We want our operators to be able to shut down a service on a Sql Server remotely. (SS 2000, Win 2003) But that's all we want them to be able to do, i.e. we don't want them to Terminal Server into the box. Can you use Net Start and Net Stop to do this? In other words, can they run Net Stop and Net Start from their desktop to stop and restart a service on a remote machine? I've been googling for switches and can't find anything!
