Hello, a Firbechannel-LUN is connected and reconnected to Windows 2003 Server via LUN-Security. On one host, the disk is recongnized immediately with the same drive-letter, like it works for USB-Disks, on other servers, I need to do a device-scan or diskpart and mountvol. I cannot find the key difference between the Systems. Does anybody knows, what to configure, that the servers handling the FC-disk like a USB-disk? Thanks and regards Rudz

by Guest Morne- 2 replies

Hi I have a logon script on an organisational unit in AD to map shared network folders. The script runs fine and shared folders are mapped, but sometimes during logon the sharenames disapear and are replace by the drive letter only. The sharenames sometimes also disapear some time after they were successfully mapped with sharename and all. Please advise any reasons why this may be happening. Many thanks. Morne

Sorry to bother, but I was wondering...what is the difference between scheduled tasks in Server 2k3 compared to them in Win xp pro SP2.... Reason I ask is, I've got backup scripts running to a NAS...on the server they are working perfectly, but using the same method on xp, they just don't want to run...security and paths are all correct, no issue talking to anything... Can anyone give me any thoughts/insight into the matter? Thanks...

Server 2003 STD eval SP2 upgrade to SP1
by Guest Nick- 2 replies

Hello, I know this is similar to other threads, but I can't find the exact same situation. I have running Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition Evaluation copy. Build 3790 (Service Pack 2). This I got from the microsoft download site. I aslo downloaded the R2 disc and have installed some of its components. My question is, when I 'upgrade' or 'repair' this installation to remove the 180 day limit, I know that I need the retail box version, but can I use the none SP2 version (P73-01669) or does it have to be the SP2 version (P73-02509). I only ask because, of course, the SP2 version is considerably more expensive. Many thanks for any help with…

Hi, I am trying to get some help in terms of decommisioning an existing domain controller which runs the secondary DNS zone. 1) My question is do I uninstall AD first or do I need to remove/delete the secondary DNS zone from the server. My thinking is that I need to uninstall AD first, then delete/remove DNS. 2) how do I delete/remove secondary zone DNS ? Do i right click the zone and press the delete button. Regards

Hi All, Every time I go to install SP2 on Win2k3 Server, the server goes dead, as in locks out all communications both ways. cant start the network service, cant start the firewall service and cant ping outside my server. I found a couple things that say to disable the IPSec service, but that doesn't fix it, or change anything. it's in it's own little world. After installing SCW (thank you M$ for not doing this, I found THAT tidbit somewhere). I run it, and SCW says it cannot create its database. hmm.. do I need that? What I did find was that the RPC endpoint mapper isn't working properly anymore. even though it says it started, nothing can find an en…

My server is a Windows 2K3 Server Enterprise. We have another Windows 2K3 DC. Why is it that when I reboot my server that I cannot gain access to other workstations using Remote Access? As soon as the server boots up, I have immediate access. I assumed that the other DC would handle authentication when the primary server is offline. Thanks

by Guest Craig- 1 reply

Hello all, I am running a Windows 2003 file server for the past 3 months now. I administer it through RDP, and can obviously make changes to permissions, configurations and whatever. Last week, I realized I couldn't access a folder when I connected through Remote Desktop. I can check the properties, permissions and users allowed to see the folder. Today another folder on a different share is giving me the same error. Has anyone heard of not being able to access a folder on the server, when your logged on to the server, as an adimistrator?
