ISA 2006 exceptions of rule per computer
by Guest Jmair- 0 replies

I'm running a rule that blocks students from "x" sites as a group. I was wondering if there is a way to add an exception, so students can check email etc from selected machines in the library, or by computer. i.e. If a student logs into a library computer, they may infact avoid the ISA rule all together. Any suggestions on how I can do this while leaving the machine on the domain? Thanks!

Random shutdowns on 2003 servers
by Guest George Nussbaum- 4 replies

Hi all, I have noticed that we have had random shutdowns of servers. Some actually still ping, but you cannot get to a console or other interface to see what is wrong and have to reboot them. The only thing that shows up in the Event logs is the "The server shut down unexpectedly...". I checked the power sources that they are connected to and the are fine. Any thoughts as to what it might be? Also, we run virus scanners, so I'm pretty confident that it isn't that. Thanks, George

I am getting the following error when trying to apply this update: "The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch" ..net 1 is on here as well as I verified the windows installer is correctly installed... Any ideas? Thanks, Lance

Administrator account not able to connect to IE for critical updat
by Guest mark@ctcommunications.com- 0 replies

This is a strange one. In trying to do updates, connect to the internet for tech support, etc... on my DC I can not get internet access when using the administrator account only. When I use my AD log in or anyone elses with the rights it works just fine but when I try to use the administrator account it times out, DNS error, etc... this is really weird. My SDC does not have the same issue just my primary.

Shut Users Down
by Guest Wolfie301- 7 replies

Is there a way to force users to shut down? I have set up wsus but not many computers have appeared in my wsus group and I think this is because they never log off or shut down. They also need to re-boot for other updates such as AVT. Any help very much appreciated.

Hi, we defined a group policy rule (on several computers), that specify which groups are allowed to logon through Terminal Services. Even I have disabled (or modified) the GPO, I still cannot connect by through TS with another account not listed in the old GPO. I would like to modify this value directly from registry in the client computer. Someone can tell me wwhere does GPO store this parameter ? Thank you -- Pascal

Mapped drives intermittent on VPN
by Guest Lewej- 0 replies

Hi We have about 20 laptops in the field that all work OK - apart from one, whose mapped drives seem intermittently available via a VPN. Some weeks they are seen and availalbe. Other weeks though they appear in Explorer, if the user clicks on them they are empty and have no subdirectories. Clearly this is causing issue. There is nothing amazing about our L2TP VPN. I have asked the user to reboot their broadband router and laptop. Even if they cannot connect to the mapped drives their Outlook and other functions till seem to work OK on the VPN. ANy ideas please! TIA Lewej
