network cable unplugged.
by Guest t.restivo@comlabs.com- 2 replies

I have two Windows 2003 64 bit servers. Both have three NIC's in them. The onboard network card works on both servers. The added cards are Realtek 8139 10/100 PCI cards. One server shows a code 10 error on both added cards. The other server shows network cable unplugged. However there is a link light on both the card and the switch. I have the latest drivers I could find loaded. I removed the two cards from the server with network cable unplugged and replaced with one Trendnet card (apparently it is the same card and the Realtek). I have the same issues. Please help.

I'm running a w2k3 enterprise server as an 8 port fax server using a Multitech ISI5634UPCI/8. It receives sever hundreds of fax's a day. However, about one in 5 fails with the following error:” Reception error" "Unknown fatal error" "0x0000000c" MultiTech Systems MT5634SMI-V92" There is no source pattern to these errors and no patter to the receiving line. I've had all of the lines tested. Disabled Compression and I've updated the modems to the latest Windows drivers (it’s on the Windows HCL): Below is a single fax failure log. Any info is welcomed.... Hi, I'm currently running Windows 2003 enterprise Edition with SP2 and would like to apply directory quotas. Unfortuantely, it appears that this feature is only available if I upgrade to RC2 ??? Is it straightforward to upgrade to RC2 from Enterprise server (SP2) or is there any other good third party software I should be using instead. Many Thanks.

HP2600N Nightmare on Win2k3 server
by Guest Blackberry- 2 replies

Hi All Been installing HP2600N's at schools no problem in a server environment. Installed 2 today (ie configured static ip on each (school rule), installed the driver on the Win2k3 server via the installer cd, restarted the server (mandatory), shared the printers and config'd GPO to 'push' these printers to the user accounts) and had a absolute shocker when I came to log on with any user account. Basically bombs with a exception error when each printer drops in, says that Windows' DE has protected me from the SubSpool something app, stopped the print spooler service and won't let me restart it and lost all of my printers (inc 2 other network ones th…

Drive mapping problem
by Guest Pascal Goulet- 9 replies

Hi all, Here is a brief description of my problem. Every once in a while (like once avery 3-4 months) I have a very strange problem. One of my user (I have 900 of them) is unable to map network drive via my login script or map the printer who are host on the same server. The weird thing is that my login script do not only map ressources from this server. And every other map drive are mapped without problems. I do not have any lead on the event log of the client computer, the server who does'nt share his ressources or the DC. I first tought it might be a SID problem cause if I copy the user from the AD and recreate it with the same login and grou…

Any thoughts with this?
by Guest David- 0 replies

Hi We have several hundred remote users. It has come to my attention that when they VPN in they don't update their DNS records automatically. This can only it can be done by running the ipconfig /registerdns command. We have a RAS server on the network and two DHCP servers which assign the clients IP addreses. Both DHCP servers are relay agents for the RAS. I have checked DHCP and it is set too "Always dynamically update A records and PTR records" both on the server level and on the scope. I think the problem maybe that a computer only registers its DNS when it starts up, and when they initialise the VPN to the office it doesn't. On the properties of the V…

Shared folders - connection limit
by Guest DeFactoITguy- 4 replies

Hi, Background: the calibration lab I work in is looking to set up a server-type machine where 10+ users will run a non-MS server-side application ifrom a shared folder. We are trying to figure out which version of Windows Server to purchase. The desire is for this machine to be a simple client in a large domain, i.e., not a domain controller, and not running any of the server programs that come with SBS 2003. My question concerns the number of concurrent connections to shared folders in SBS 2003. I know than in XP Home the connection limit is 5 users at a time to a shared folder and 10 for XP Pro. Is there a limit in SBS 2003 (or regular Window…

increasing disk space 1 2
by Guest Greg- 35 replies

I have an HP Proliant ML350 server running Windows Server 2003 and have two 34GB hard drives that are mirrored using a Basic (not Dynamic) disk setup. I have run low on disk space (2GB free) and would like to just increase the size of the current logical drive. I have installed two more 34GB drives that are mirrored (I assume because of the RAID controller settings since they show as one 34GB logical drive). When looking at the "Disk Management" profiles of the installed disks under the Computer Management console, it shows the existing disks as "Disk 0" Basic 33.91GB Online Healthy (System) and the newly installed disks as "Disk 1" Basic 33.91GB Online…
