Hello, Newsgroupians: I have a Windows Server 2003 computer that we're using in our department. It has two NICs. NIC1 connects to the main network of the facility. We use NIC2 ONLY for our department. I am trying to setup the server to act as a gateway between the two networks. Therefore, I am using Microsoft's NAT wizard to create the gateway. Therefore, if anything that is not on the same subnet of our "localized" network will be passed onto the "main network" through NIC1. A small ASCII depiction: COMP1 192.168.1.100 ---- | COMP2 | NIC2 NIC1 192.16…

Tool to scan files on fileserver??
by Guest hslbz@hotmail.com- 9 replies

Hi all, We are thinking about archiving old files from our fileserves to cheaper storage. To check whether this is usefull I would like to see how many files (for instance older then 1 year) we have on our fileserver. So I just need a very simple tool (or something) which scans a partition I choose with the settings I set and then tells me how much GB is not modified in (for instance) 1 year. does anybody know such a tool? (extensive search didn't give me a result:( Regards, Mike van Gestel

Windows Deployment Services How can sysprepped machine be captured if it has RAID card??

Windows Deployment Services How can sysprepped machine be captured if it has RAID card?? Through Server2003 sp2 running Windows Deployment Services, I can capture and deploy XP and Vista Images on machine that DO NOT have a RAID controller. I do not have and previous RIS legacy images. Several of my machines have RAID controllers and when attempting to capture, the "choose what volume" never populates. I assume it's because I need to somehow add a driver in some file. How do I get a capture image prepared to load up and capture a sysprepped "client" machine that has a raid controller controlling the drives? Do I somehow use the boot.wim or captu…

I have a Word macro that I need to publish to 80+ PC's, without overiding the Normal.dot file. Is there a way of doing this via Server 2003 that dosn't require me to go around to each machine? Currently using; Windows XP Pro(SP2) Server 2003 R2 (SP2) Word 2003 (SP3). Thanks, Andrew. Posted to; microsoft.public.office.misc; microsoft.public.server.general (Think I've cross posted this correctly).

Hi, I am using windows server 2003 R2. It's a test server. I have created Virtual Drives in a logical drive for VMWare. Windows often shows me LOW DISK SPACE Warning. I would like to get rid of it. I found an article in internet, which says that if i create a DWord in Registry, it would remove the warning. But it is working only in Windows Server 2000. Is there any way in 2003 ? Please Help. Thanks in Advance. Regards Venkat

RAID 5 on Windows Server 2003
by Guest diegoarbe- 2 replies

I know this has been talked about a lot! But I have a question that hasn'y been answered in the forum. Windows Server 2003 Specifications state that i can use ANY attached drives to make my RAID, being 0 1 or 5. So... can I use external hard drives to make this work? I know it is not the BEST solution, but I would like to recycle the material I have. The short story.... We are setting up a Single Windows Server 2003 for our needs, in the past we didnt use a server because we've grown fast and hardware was not planned. Every person has their own Western Digital MyBook external drive, 500Gb each... 8 Total. if I wanted to use 4 of these to make a RAID 5 is…

Slow network file copy in VSS enabled volume
by Guest Mycroft Holmes- 1 reply

Hi, Here's my problem: we have a server with tons of drives and partitions C..H. each partition is about 500MB operating system is Windows 2003 x64 SP1. Most clients are non-windows laptops connecting via SAMBA. We never had issues, but recently we enabled shadow copies on partitions F and G; we noticed that when clients perform a large file transfer (say, a 700 mb file), the transfer rate is as fast as usual, but the progress bar on the client pauses near the end, it stays there for a long time (e.g. 1 minute) and eventually it finishes ok, the file has been written correctly. In the "idle" time the server has moderate cpu activity (say 10%) and some I…

Lost Performance Counters: Windows 2003 Server R2 SP2
by Guest Paul_at_LSR- 2 replies

Hi All! I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Server that appears to have lost most of it's Performance Counters. I followed the steps in the MS KB article 300956 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/300956/en-us), however, after a reboot, the counters are still missing, even from Performance Monitor. I compared a Windows 2003 R2 with SP2 Server running IIS, MSDE 2000 and Kronos Workforce Central v5.2 to a Windows 2003 R2 SP2 Server with IIS, ADAM, Blackberry Enterprise Server 4.1.4 and some custom created services to create a list of missing Objects from Permon. This later server is the one missing the counters. Below are the Objects that are missing that…
