R2 report limitations
by Guest Cosby- 2 replies
I've been trying to run reports with the new File Server Management tool in regards to Duplicate files, old files, and large files. I've run into one problem though that I was hoping to get some help with. There's a maximum of 1000 files that the report will return. The report will tell you how many files match the criteria, but only displays the first 1000. Is there a way to increase this maximum, or to alter the way the report runs to exclude certain files after you've confirmed that they do need to remain? Any help would be appreciated. -- Thanks Cosby

MS Imaging Software Question
by Guest TheScullster- 0 replies

Hi all May well be OT this one but...... The recent release of MS updates has disassociated the MS Document Imaging software from tiff images. This causes us a headache because we scan all drawings to this format. The alternative picture and fax viewer is hopeless for this. So the question is......... Does anyone actually understand why the MS Imaging software is considered a vulnerability? Will the danger posed by this problem be negated by the fact that users are behind a corporate firewall or is it not-that-kind-of-problem? What risk is run by re-associating this software with tiffs? TIA Phil

Mapped Network Drive Issue
by Guest IT Craig- 5 replies

Hello all, My AD Environment has a file server running windows 2003. I have 900 users connected throughout the infrastructure. Our Novell server has recently died, so im mapping users to a new server for file share. 200 users have been sucsessful remapped but, 2 of them. I am at a loss of whats going on. Same subnet, same permissions, same building, I can map the drive, but cannot access it. However, before the mapped drive is complete, I can run the share from RUN on these 2 workstations. I can access and make changes as I have granted rights to these users. Anyone have any ideas or has anyone seen this before? Thanks in advance

submit for your opinion: AD network with numerous 2000 and 2003 servers, shared folders & printers, etc. recently added 2003 r2 server to be used for print server, routine shared duties, etc. functions well with other servers, used for GPO deployment mostly, can manage exchange on exchange server via system mgr, server to server all good BUT XP workstations cannot access this servers shared resources (printers and folders). XP workstation can see the server in the "enitre network", and can RDC into it, BUT when attempting to access a shared resources (printers, folders) the user is prompted for user name and password, and these are not accepted. no…

I have server 2003 with IPP setup and working for Windows clients using IE. How can my Mac OS X users connect to printers using IPP via the print server? I don't want users connecting directly to the printers as they are charged for their printing by a program running on the print server.

Cannot find NETWOK SERVICE Account
by Guest ThatsIT.net.au- 0 replies

I recently promoted a Windows 2003 server to be a backup domain controller in a windows 2000 domain. After that I could not find the NT Authority\Network Service Account. Is this expected behavior? Is there any way of recreating this account? I was under the impression that the Network Service account was not a account of the domain controller and only a account of member servers, but I also read that I need to give it permissions to run IIS on a domain controller.

by Guest Don Murphy- 2 replies

Hello, I am attempting to replace an older server running windows server 2000 standard edition configured with WIN2000DOMAIN (domain name) and W2000D (netbios name). I am replacing that with a Windows Server 2003 R2 domain controller running SP2 configured with WIN2000DOMAIN (domain name) and W2000D (netbios name). Note the netbios name is the same. When the win2003 DCboots it does not start AD correctly because of an error with the netbios name (other computer is preventing it) I have shut the DHCP service down on the windows 2003 DC. This is a temporiary condition untill migration is complete (1 month) How can I get these two DCs to coexist? …

Print drivers
by Guest Betsey- 2 replies

So our Windows 2003 print server seems to have an issue. It is a newly formatted server, with service pack 2 on it. It has about 70 printers installed with various drivers from Ricoh 1515 to HP 2550 drivers. But certain drivers it does not like. For example I'm trying to install a HP P3005 and anytime I install the driver it just locks up the printer properties. It will lock up on the Finish window of the printer wizard. Then if you try to go to the properties, perferences, anything of the newly installed printer it won't go and if someone tries to print to the printer it gives them errors (like you don't have a printer installed, this printer isn't wo…
