by Guest Ven- 10 replies

Hi! All, I have a situation here. I wanted to install the Windows Server 2003 Enterprise edition on a DELL Optiplex 755 with an 80 GB SATA drive. A couple of minutes into the installation I get the blue screen " 0X0000007B(0XF789E63C,0XC0000034,0X00000000,0X00000000) asking me to "chkdsk" the hard drive. After searching the Internet I get to know that Win Server 2003 doesnt provide the SATA drivers. I checked with DELL and they say they cannot help as I am changing the default O.S of Optiplex. the Intel chipset is "Intel NH82801 I0" and I dont find the chipset on the Intel website. Nor could I find the drivers elsewhere. I am missing something her…

I'm going to be rebuilding a server in a couple of months. It is a Dell PowerEdge 2850 connected to a PowerVault box. There are 2 RAID 1 arrays in the PowerEdge and a RAID 10 in the PowerVault. Id like to image the 3 arrays before wiping the server and rebuilding. I currently have Backup Exec 9.1 Looking for a way to do this. Low cost would be a good thing... Same with any network printer. It looks like the ASPNET account does not see the printers I have installed under my own userid. How can I do ? Thank you, Gilbert

Repartition a mirrored drive
by Guest Mark M Simonian- 0 replies

I am using business server 2003 and Dell originally set the active partition © (1 Drive - there are two partitions C and F) to just 10 gigabytes and I need to grow that space. I have a dynamic mirrored drive and have physically disconnected it - the second hard drive. I am using RAID 1. I will use EASEUS Partition Manager Server Edition to do the repartition. What do I have to do with the mirror settings before I perform the repartitioning. Righjt Click and remove, delete, or break the mirror. Secondly if the repartition goes well, how do I reset the second hard drive to mirror the new size? -- *************************** Mark M Simonian, MD 681 …

Problems migrating AD PDC
by Guest Paul Chow- 13 replies

I am trying to migrate from an old W2K3 Active Directory domain controller to a new one. Eventually I want to remove the old server from the network. I have never done this before and it is a little bit out of my league so I Googled, read and hopefully followed several articles that I found, but am still getting some errors logged. The list of AD users, computers etc replicated over to the new server, but when I turn off the old one no one can log in and there is no Internet access. I think both of these problems are due to DNS (which I really understand about 1% of). There are no errors in the DNS log though (just info that the service started). Most of th…

by Guest Michelle- 2 replies

Hello, I have set up a VPN tunnel between 2 Sonic Wall routers. From location A, I can access network shared drives located at location B. But from location A, using a Windows XP computer, I cannot telnet to any Solaris UNIX workstations located at location B. Whenever I use telnet, I get error about cannot open port 23. Does Sonic Wall lock out port 23? Any suggestions how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Windows Server 2008 - How do I determine the current Activation Hardware Tolerance value for a MAK activated machine? TIA! Hi all, I would like to find out how I can find the current value of the "Activation Hardware Tolerance" variable on a MAK activated machine. A few of the hard drives have been swapped and I'd like to take some RAM out of the machine. I assume this action will change hash value and therefore the AHT value... is there an slmgr.vbs command to querry this? Thanks for any help!

wbadmin
by Guest Ole- 2 replies

Hi everybody, I am trying to set up a scheduled backup. I will use wbadmin and not the graphical interface, because the interface does not allow to backup to remote servers. I have created a command like this: wbadmin start backup -backupTarget:\\SLH\BackupWin\YODA\Montag\ -include:c:,d: -noverify -user:Administrator -password:mypw -vssFull -quiet Now, it would be nice to replace the part '\Montag\' with every day of the week. Is there a function to do such replacement like %DAYOFWEEK% or something similar? Where can I find documentation about such functions? Thanks for your time Ole

OK, I have a sched. task in Windows Server 2008 64 Bit RTM Enterprise, that fires (sorry, I mean sexy new term "Triggers") on second Thursday of every month, then repeats every hour. However, although I ask it to stop after 6 hours,it keeps going & going up to 8 hours now and counting!!!!!! I am seeing posts on this in Vista groups also (no surprises there - same kernel). So, can MS admit this is a bug and advise when this will be dealt with please? Oh the pain, the pain. (Dr. Smith) Thanks.

Server 2008: Downgrading to SMB1
by Guest Ole- 2 replies

Hi Everybody, I have a set of PDC and WTS running on Server 2008 (Enterprise x64). I have problems accessing files that seem to be SMB related. Server 2008 uses SMB2. Somebody told me that I could activate SMB1 on those servers. I have created a 32Bit DWORD called SMB1 in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrenControlSet\LanmanServer\Parameters and set the value to 1. (on both servers) This did not have any effect, netmon still reports SMB2. Can anybody help? Thanks for your time Ole
