Help on "insufficient system resource" error...
by Guest Lewis Henderson- 0 replies
Hi All, I occasionally get an "insufficient system resource" error message from a database management system my company has developed. I noticed that there was a recent fix to SQL Server for this same problem (KB274310). My app isn't based on SQL server, but if this SQL fix was something generic in the I/O handling that I might be able to replicate in my code, then I'd like to know. Can anyone out there find out what this SQL fix was, or if you've run into a similar problem, how did you fix it? Thanks for any and all information. Lewis Henderson henderso@opentext.com

I have a file server running 2003 server which holds several hundred thousand files that much be accessed from a dozen or so Windows XP/Vista machines. Can I set up a server-side search index so windows desktop search will find all of those photos but won't have to index everything themselves (the average day sees another couple thousand files added to the server)?

Re-partitioning a drive
by Guest happydude- 2 replies

I am relatively new to the server world and need to free up space on a Windows Server 2003 drive. I have found great suggestions from Newell White on moving the pagefile to another drive that has more space. This I will help but I was wondering how do you move the pagefile? Also, what are some basic things I should know before any attempt is made to re-partition a drive? Thank you very much for your help. -- Cheers, John

Easy Assist equivalent.. remote assistance software ideas for remote customers? Live Meeting? Etc.. We are a small to midsize company with about 40 users and 4 windows 2003 servers.. we have OCS 2007 installed with live meeting, but have no official "edge server" or dmz topology.. we sit behind a single firewall with a single public ip address.. We do have the ability to add a public ip to a secondary nic on a machine and/or use virtualization inside another machine if need be.. What i'm trying to determine is what the cheapest remote assistance type feature would be for our remote customers for support of our Products. We have an MSDN and action pack subscr…

My Server 2003 Evaluation Expired
by Guest Nelson Ogden- 2 replies

Dear group: I recently installed Windows Server 2003 - 180 day evaluation. All was fine until I had a problem with the computer and accidently reset the bios date! I didn't realize that the bios date was wrong until I rebooted the computer. Now Windows says that my evaluation has expired even though I correctly set the date. I found this article - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/812545 - that describes my situation but offers no solution. Can anyone here suggest what I should do? I'm not concerned about retreiving data, just need to get the server running for a while longer. Thanks!

Virtual Server 2005 - can Guest OS be timed to "save state"
by Guest Chris Swinney- 2 replies

Hi, Not sure where this question will go as there is no specific Vitual Server 2005 newsgroup. We run different guest OS system on a Virtual server, some of which are shared client OS's (for testing etc - more effeciient than using Virtual PC). Users can connect using the VMRC client to control use these OS's, but if a client is disconnected, the Guest OS remain running, so consuming Host OS resources. Is there any way to get the guest OS to go into a "saved state" if no longer needed. I can't see that any of the script options will do what I need, but I'm not sure. Chris

RE: Delete Windows Onecare There is another way to remove OneCare on your pc and I think this is much better than going to the add or remove programs. There is a cleanup tool that you can download on the microsoft.com site which is the ONECARE CLEANUP TOOL http://download.microsoft.com/download/3/a/5/3a55dc68-6466-43e8-b886-f6e1ab829d12/OneCareCleanup.exe Go to this link and you should be able to download the clean up tool just remember to save it on your desktop. Hope this helps -- Prevention is better than cure "Liz" wrote: > I went to control panal and deleted Windows OneCare that way. Is there > another way I should have removed the p…
