I have 2 servers in differnet locations not associated with each other. both have about 6 to 10 users. The DHCP is router not the server. The internet is used only for research by he workstations. Both are Domain Controllers. Every day in the afternoon, both networks sem to get real sluggish to the point that I must reboot the workstations. It think it may be a DHCP lease timeout, however, one netowrk I have static IP's set up for all computers, thereby negating the DHCP which is in the DSL router and not available to me to turn off. My local domain is just the word domain. No dot com or anything like that. I do not have DNS set up. Anyone have any ideas…

I have a DELL PowerEdge 4600 server that I just upgraded with an additional 73 GB HDD to my RAID 5 Array. In order to add this new drive to my RAID array I need to use a web browser to access. It requires that I go to https://localhost:1311 and I can access it if I choose to continue. How do I get rid of this annying message. I thought that if I just went and installed the certificate that it would go away but apparently not. Thanks in advance. There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address. Security certificate problems may indicate an atte…

Installing RIS on Windows Server 2003
by Guest justin2312@gmail.com- 1 reply

I posted this on the SSB group, but I thought I'd try here also. I've read a few how-to docs on installing Remote Installation Service (RIS) on Windows Server 2003; they all seem to say go to Add/Remove Programs> Windows Components and select "Remote Installation Service". I looked on my server, however, and the option isn't listed there at all. I'm sure the server is Windows Server 2003 SP1, is there any reason why the feature would be absent?

Moving personal data folders from one server to another
by Guest Jim in Arizona- 5 replies

We have a server that we're getting ready to decommision. We bougt a new server with a few TB of space on it. Our network uses Active Directory (server 2003) to keep everyone's personal data folders (My Documents, Desktop, Application Data, Start Menu) on a share on the server we're getting ready to decommision. The Active Directory settings are on an OU level under "User Configuration/Windows Settings/Folder Redirection". This works great however the problem has to do with moving the personal folders from the share on the old server to the share on the new server. The security on the folders under each users AD username is set to them only. This is …

Help! I tried installing Windows Server 2003 and each time I get the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 logo and the little status bar moving from left to right and that's when I get a stop error, or the system hangs. I tried the installation about 20 times so far with same result. I ran full diagnostics from the utility partition and no errors were reported on any hardware. During the server installations I tried the following so far: 1) Swapped out memory, hard drives, SCSI back plane. 2) Updated PERC & BIOS firmware. 3) Tried installing with the PERC and also tried installing using the onboard SCSI conroller. 4) Installed using server as…

odd issue with 2003 Server R2 x64 and remote desktop-mouse clicks delayed by 5-10 sec
by Guest markm75- 0 replies

This problem only seems to be when i'm in the remote session window.. i have no other problems with other servers on my network.. The task manager shows very little cpu utilization, very low network utilization.. This is an almost bare installation too. Basically.. if i click with the mouse.. it will sortof "pause" for about 5-10 seconds before moving on.. if i press a key on the keyboard it forces things along. I dont see this behavior when logged in directly.. Anyone ever run into this? Thanks

Antivirus Recommendations

Hello, I would like to get some recommedations on the Antivirus software that you guys use. We currently use Symantec Corp V10 (i believe) and that thing slows everything down accross our LAN and WANs. Can you recommend anything that will not slow things down as much? Thank you in advance, Igor Pinchevskiy
