Hello, Our Domaincontroller (win2k server) crashed and has been taken out from lan. But login at the clients (w2k) is still possible using the domainname in the login dialog. Surprise, surprise!! Sorry, I'm used in administrating windows domains and I didn't found the right hints in forums solving my problem. I excepted, that login wouldn't be possible, when no DC is available! Thank for your help! Axel

Hi, My Windows 2003 server removes .bat and .msi files from zip files when I extract them. I thought this behavior may be related to Data Execution Prevention (DEP) so I set it to - only for essential Windows services. But, I still have this issue. What may be the cause? And, how can I resolve it? Thanks

My Pictures won't let me email photos
by Guest MartinS- 2 replies

For some reason all of a sudden My Pictures won't let me email photos, it will compress them but the email delivery box doesn't come up, instead I was getting something about Office Outlook profile needs to be set up. I use Thunderbird, never used Outlook but did recently install Office student and teacher edition 2003. I assumed this was the problem and removed Office Outlook part of Office, now the Outlook profile box is gone, but I still can't get the 'Send Email' box up after I try to email the pictures. Any ideas?

Terminal Services Disconnecting
by Guest Rob R.- 1 reply

I have two terminal servers running Server 2003 w/ SP2 and all current updates. Things were great for a long time, then recently I've had a few users report that their session will lock up and then actually log them out after about 30 minutes of inactivity. My Idle timeout on the server is set to 2 hours and even then it's only set to disconnect them not terminate the session. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

by Guest David Griffiths- 1 reply

Hi, we are just experimenting with TS running just the basic available 2 logons with W2K3 sever. We have set up some users, with one user I gave the terninal server profile path the path to the roaming profile for that user, we have decided that that is not what we want right now and I have removed the bpath from the Terminal Services Profile tab in AD and deleted the users profile folder from document and settings on the server. When we log in as thta user it still creates the profile folder with over 2Gb of data from the roaming profile. There must be something else I must do to stop this from happening. All the other users we setup for test and did …

I have a disc that Disk Defragmenter won't finish defragging. On the first pass it did considerable work but quit with 22% fragmentation left. Now when I hit defragment it runs for 30 seconds and spits out the report below. Nothing in the logs to indicate a error. Disc is NOT dirty. No 3rd party disk tools have been installed. Partition has 54% free space. Any ideas why defragmentor won't finish? Cheers, Mitch Report: Volume (C:) Volume size = 99.99 GB Cluster size = 4 KB Used space = 45.38 GB Free space …

Add network printer from server running x64 Version
by Guest ykffc- 1 reply

My first Windows 2003 Standard version server has setup a printer called PP1. It can print normally from the local machine and it can be shared. If I add the above printer to an Windows XP machine from the network, the installation works smoothly and it can print normally. My second server runs Windows 2003 x64 version. I setup a local printer (same model and make) with name PP2. Again it can be shared. The printer prints normally from application running on the local machine. If I try to add PP2 to the same Windows XP machine, I receive an error. It complains "the server for the PP printer does not have the correct printer driver installed. If you …
