OS: Windows Terminal server 2003' VPN client: CISCO vpn client I am a bit confused. Here I am only mentioning the same TERMINAL server all the way. 1) One day I defined a few printers in the terminal server with my Domain logon ID. (BTW, my logon has admin prvileges on this machine). I am on the physical network when defining them ( not VPN ). Then I logoff and asked other Domain users to RDP to the terminal server, they can all see the printers from their Windows -> control panel -> printers / faxes applet. 2) Today I sign-on as usual. I define one new printer \\xxx.xxx.xx.xx\printer with my logon but the printer is a local printer c…

Hello, I installed DHCP server on a pair of DCs runing server 2003 standard. The DHCP service itself is working fine, but both machines logged the following error: Event Type: Warning Event Source: SNMP Event Category: None Event ID: 1101 Date: 10/10/2007 Time: 3:57:45 PM User: N/A Computer: <removed> Description: The SNMP Service is ignoring extension agent key SOFTWARE\Microsoft \DhcpMibAgent\CurrentVersion because it is missing or misconfigured. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Error 1101 is normally a fatal error, but I looked and the SNMP service is still running. Google…

Hi, For SQL Server, a fellow has suggested to use File Allocation Unit of size 64KB and the sector size should be 4KB. I am able to format a new hard disk and assign a file allocation unit size of 64KB. On the other hand, is there any way for us to change the sector size and what is the default value for a Windows 2003 Server ? Thanks Peter

I have two W2k3 servers that disappear from network neighborhood. When I run Browstat status <domain> I receive this message: Browsing is NOT active on domain. Status: 6118 Master name cannto be determined from GetAdapterStatus I made my PDC (W2K3) the master browser by setting the IsDomainMaster to True (I've also tried setting it to Yes), we have both WINS and DNS setup as well. This is a single homed system. I've changed NIC and disabled and re-enabled the File and Print setting in the NIC but nothing seems to work. How do you activate browing on the domain? All other servers and workstations appear within network neighborhood. I can ping an…

32bit processor and 4 gig limit
by Guest FF- 4 replies

Anyone know if you have 2-4 processors if you can exceed the 4gig RAM limit? What I'm wondering is, does the limit apply per processor. We're looking to possibly setup some VMWare on a server with 4 processors and 4 gig of RAM. We're wondering if it would make sense to toss in 8 gig of RAM before we buy more windows licenses. Thanks!

Hello, How can one check when Windows 2003 Evaluation Server expires, I know it's good for 180 days, but we can't remember when we installed it. Also to upgrade to a full server license do we need to reinstall the OS or just enter a new number, if so where can we do it? Thank you in advance, Igor Pinchevskiy

Hi At work we thought to build a fresh/new active directory with windows 2003 enterprise edition/exchange 2003 and isa 2004. But we have the following doubts: 1. How should we arquitect our active directory based on organization units (need examples and good white papers) A) Should AD / OU be build based on group policy? B) For better jobs assign should the OU be manage by a group of IT team and other OU by other tecnichians? 2. The actuall distribution list allow to a "normal" user add himself to a group at other group that it doesn't belong. How to correct this issue in the this fresh AD? 3. We have some locations with servers but other…
