ISA Server 2000 crashing
by Guest rounner@yahoo.com- 0 replies

Our ISA server has been crashing. The event logs indicate some sort of connectivity issue. I am told ISA will do this if it loses connectivity but that sounds pretty extreme for simply losing a connection. Can anyone confirm if ISA server 2000 on Server 2000 will crash just because it loses its LAN connection? Thanks.

Hi, I have to copy a big file (267 GB SQL Backup) over the network to a new server. The copy process stop with a error (less system ressources). I have tested the copy with another destination, another file and with robocopy. It's the same problem. If I copy the file from on partition to another partion the failure is the same. Here are the system facts: source: IBM xSeries 346 , 8 GB Ram Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 - 32 Bit SQL Server 2000 1GBit LAN destination: IBM xSeries 345 , 8 GB Ram Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2 - 32 Bit 1 GBit LAN The SQL Server 2000 is limited to use not more than 1,5 GB RAM. In boot.ini the /PAE and /3GB p…

Hello, While going thru ASR it reads info from the floppy disk and starts partitioning the hard drive, then formats it and here we have an issue - 80GB array format process in normal mode takes about 30minutes. I'm scared - how much it'll take for the 1,2TB array?! Does anyone know is it any way to force quick format of the hard drive in the first phase of ASR process which is in the "blue screen"?

DNS lookup??
by Guest idyleorfus@yahoo.com- 4 replies

I was having trouble with all machines hanging up late in the day but found that the group policy for each workstation was set to auto renew the network login after logged on for approximately 6-8 hours. I turned off the auto-renew feature which was giving me trouble because the DNS is NOT the local network but that of the ISP. I have each machine set up with a static IP and in so doing I cannot change the DNS to automatic. I must specify it which I did as the ISP primary and secondary. It plays havoc with the auto-renew feature on the system. Should I add the ISP DNS to the forwarder?? The only IP in the forwarder is 192.168.1.1 which is the router not t…

Replace hard drive in RAID 5 array
by Guest Computer geek- 3 replies

Can someone advise me on how to replace and rebuild a drive in my RAID 5 array. I have a Compaq ProLiant ML370 with 3 drives configured for RAID 5. One drive failed and it is currently running on 2 drives. I have a used drive from another old machine that I can use to rebuild the array. If I shut it down and just replace the failed drive with the new (used) one, will it automatically start to rebuild when I boot the server back up? Will it prompt me for anything? Do I need to "initialize" the drive? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

NLB and 802.1Q
by Guest Pete P- 1 reply

My HP NIC drivers support 802.1Q. I'd like to configure 802.1Q and NLB on the same physical pair of NICs on my server. I found this quote, “You cannot enable 802.1Q VLAN tagging and integrated NLB on the same interface of a network adapter. This limitation is imposed by NLB" from here, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912943. I understand this to mean that I can not configure NLB on an 802.1Q tagged virtual interface. But, this would leave open the possibility of configuring NLB on the native or non-tagged virtual interface. I have not been able to get this working on my test rig so I'm reaching out to you all to see if anyone has experience with g…

by Guest RedCellNL- 2 replies

Hello, When I add the DHCP snap-in to the Management Console, I can add three DHCP servers. But when I open those three there is a red cross. So these servers aren't DHCP servers anymore. How can the DHCP snap-in see these servers as DHCP servers? is this because of there role of because of Active Directory? Can I delete thos orphan DHCP servers with Adsiedit or by deleting the role? Thanks !

Accessing shares, append domain prefix
by Guest phantomcain- 1 reply
Hello, We just migrated from NT 4.0 to 2003 AD. We have a share on a stand alone server that many people access just using their username and password. All users had local accounts. After joining this server to the domain we found that the only way to access the share is to use the prefix of the domain name before the username ("domain\username"). Does anybody know of a way in which we can still continue to just use username and password instead of domain\username and pword? Any help would be much appreciated. -- phantomcain ------------------------------------------------------------------------ phantomcain's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.ph…
