Watertight between two NICs...?
by Guest Jake- 3 replies

Hi, We have a member server with two nics, one connected to Domain-A and the other to Domain-B. No routing is set between the two subnets. Despite this, if I open Windows Explorer / network neigborhood from a workstation in Domain-B I can see Domain-A as a 'workgroup' with many Domain-A workstation names in it. Does this mean that windows propagates such information across doubleNIC servers or would it be caused by Domain-A computers currently (and temporarily) connected to Domain-B? Thanks for comments on this issue jake

We currently have shadow copy enabled on one of our w2k3 servers. What file on my drive should i look for to see where it is. I looked on the drive and didn't see any files or folders that should be the size of the copy. I do see the schedule of times when it should occur.

by Guest Brillmike- 0 replies

I have a need to use the most simple set up for DFS. I need to consolidate some files share on our netork to one share to support an application that maps a single drive letter. I have tested both the standlone setup and the domain setup and bot seem to do what i need. What is the differnces between the 2 setups? How do you manage security on the DFS share? I am collecting links to other share so i have a smaller subset of security there but how do i manage security to the DFS share? I am not using Windows R2 and do not plan on upgrading the production network, is using W2003, SP1 going to be an issue. IN the lab I have not run accross anything. …

NT Backup log empty
by Guest David C- 1 reply
I have a differential backup running overnight in task scheduler. The job was created in NT backup and has been running fine. The backup is backing up to a remote PC that is part of the domain and the backup folder is mapped as a drive on the server being backed up. I have checked the backup log today and it is empty, but I see the backup file on the remote PC. I have the Backup Log tab set to "Summery". Any ideas why the log is not getting written to? Thanks. AD Printer Migration between Servers
by Guest google@buckl.co.uk- 2 replies

I'm trying to migrate my printers to a new server which has a different name. I've done this but all the clients appear to reference the old server explicitly rather then just printer to PRINTERNAME on AD. Is this the norm? I'd assumed that if I downed the old server the clients would pick up the same AD name and print to the new server. Any help much appreicated. Steve
