Error Creating Mirror on Windows 2003 Server
by Guest Mike Schumann- 4 replies
I created a mirror on my new Windows 2003 Server system. Both disks are identical 160GByte IDE drives. When I created a mirror, I got the following error message: "Logical Disk Mgr could not update boot file for any boot partitions on the target disk. Verify your arcpath listings in file boot.ini or through the bootcfg.exe utility" I'm a novice at this and am quite clueless on what to do to make sure that if my primary disk fails, I can still boot from the mirrored drive. Any help would be appreciated. -- Mike Schumann

Server Folders Do Not Refresh Automatically on Client Computer
by Guest Mike Schumann- 0 replies
I have two Windows 2003 Server systems. When I open a folder on one of the servers from my Windows XP Home laptop, any changes in the folder (copying files, etc.) automatically appear. When I do the same thing on the new server, the folder only updates when I manually refresh it. Any suggestions on why this is happening and how I can fix this would be appreciated. -- Mike Schumann

Event codes 15, 1054, and 1002
by Guest idyleorfus@yahoo.com- 2 replies

My network keeps hanging up every 5 or 6 hours daily. The event ID's on the user terminal allude to a DC error. I get #15 AutoEnrollment failure followed by #1054 UserEvn (can't obtain the DC name for my computer network), followed by #1002, ApplicationHang and it gives me the exe of my application which just hung because something was renewed from the server and the workstation appears to hang. My user then reboots his workstation which takes a lot of time to reconnect to the network. Can someone give me some idea of what needs to be done? Running Win2003 server small biz server. Svc Pk1 on a Dell Poweredge. System was just installed last week. Thanks for …

Installed all of the requirements as it stated, however when I try to run the installer for sharepoint 2007 it says i need to : requires asp.net v2.0 to be set to 'allow' in the list of IIS web server extensions. if not available in the list, re-install asp.net 2.0 I did install .net framework 3.0, and .net framework 2.0, ran all of the patches from microsoft update, however for default website properties i can select between 1.x and 2.x for asp.net version, but i then re-run the installer same error? Any ideas?

How to get Power Pt audio comments to play?
by Guest Neil- 0 replies
In a Power Point presentation, I need to insert comments for each slide. It seems that my attempts to add these comments by recording my voice were successful for each slide (I clicked on the Insert menu, then Movies and sounds, then Record sounds)--because now all the slides have the sound icon (a loudspeaker icon). BUT when I play the Power Point presentation, one only sees the slides, ones does not hear my commentary. I use Windows XP and my version of Windows Office Suite was purchased in about 2004. Many thanks to anyone who can tell me how to get the slide slow to play with my commentaries audible for each slide. Thanks! Neil

2003 Migration to new server
by Guest Ted- 1 reply
I am upgrading our 2003 DC with a brand new box soon. The current server is going to retire and I want to migrate all the roles to the new box. I have done this before but I wanted to see if there were any tools that could simplify what I need to do. The old box is running 2003 as the only DC in the forest with 1 domain. It is running SQL, being used as a file and print server, and running a few other proprietary apps which I can migrate easily. After I build the new server and promote and transfer roles, I was curious if there were an easier way to migrate file and folder shares and also move the printers to the new server as the old server will r…

Hi, Just finished doing server updates. Now I have noticed the date and time are two days ahead. Is there any problem with just changing the time? Novell doesn't like to have system time changed like that. Thanks John H -- "Learn from the mistakes of others! You can't live long enough to make them all yourself!!"

Recovering Overwritten Files
by Guest Roman B.- 3 replies
I have a windows 2003 server. One of the files on a shared volume was "overwritten" with another file with the same name. Is there any way to recover the original overwritten file. I found some info about SHADOW VOLUME COPY but it does not appear to be enabled on the server. I have found many programs for recovering deleted files but nothing for recovering overwritten files. Anyone know of third party solutions Any help is much appreciated. Thanks Roman

Problem with Favourites.
by Guest Kardon Coupé- 2 replies

I'm having a problem with favourites.... A user re-arranges their favourties to how they want them, and then they log off and back on, the original favs layout if pulled from the server and the one they've sorted out, now having two copies of some links.... I was under the impression that when logging off, things like the favourties are copied back to the server profile store? or could it be because the server is busy doing something then the user is logging off and just can't handle the requests? Regards Paul

Rename Folder in All Mailboxes in Exchange 2003
by Guest Jeff Dale- 1 reply

We recently installed Symantec Mail Security for exchange and in the process it asks us to make a folder for Spam messages in all the users mailboxes. In our brilliant minds we spelt the work Symantec incorrectly, Now all our mailboxes have the word "Synmatec Spam" in them. I know you can use Exmerge to do this but for some reason this just won't work. I have a more recent version of ExMerge as per MSKB 842227 and have followed the steps in an article showing you how to rename folders from a different language but that doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? Thanks
