Backups fail and generate Event ID 12302
by Guest brad- 5 replies

Hi, I'm using Backup Exec 11d to backup system state and shadow copy components on a Windows 2003 Server domain controller. Jobs are failing and generating Event ID 12302, as follows: "Volume Shadow Copy Service error: An internal inconsistency was detected in trying to contact shadow copy service writers. Please check to see that the Event Service and Volume Shadow Copy Service are operating properly." Rebooting will fix the problem for a day or two but it keeps on coming back. Can anyone help me to fix this? Thanks for any assistance. -- bb

We are using shadow copies and my users love it. They were working great then all of a sudden they just stopped. All previous versions were gone. I am able to manually create them, but after a day or so they just dissappear. It is a 2.25 TB drive with over 1.5 TB free. I have seen nothing in the evert log to help. Thanks, Brian

Windows 2003 server doesn't authenticate with any W2003 DC
by Guest bojantest@spanltd.com- 4 replies

I have a problem with one of my Windows 2003 member servers. It doesn't authenticate with any Domain Controllers on the same domain or on the different standalone domains. If I try to access the shares on any DC it will prompt for the username and password I provide domain\username and password but it gives wrong password error. If I try to go to the shares from windows 2000 DC it authenticates fine. If I try to go to share of Windows 2003 non-DC servers it authenticates fine. Connecting to XP and Windows 2000 workstations also works fine. What can be I problem? I don't see any errors in the logs. Is there any helper services used for authentication with …

by Guest gary- 2 replies

(Had posted this in microsoft.public.windows.server.scripting but thought mayube it would be better here. If anyone thinks there is a better forum to post this in, please indicate. Thanks.) Hello. I have a batch file that we'd like to run as a service so that it runs before a user logs on. I have used Iexpress to wrap the BAT file into an EXE, and used instsrv and srvany to create a service. The problem is that the BAT file contains environment variables. When I run the bat at the command prompt, it runs fine. But when I run the EXE created by iexpress, it fails because none of the environment variables defined in the BAT file are getting set.. Is th…

Can't interact with Scheduled Task
by Guest mj.redfox.mj@gmail.com- 3 replies

Hello, I have a Scheduled Task that is set to run at Startup on a Windows Server 2003. I have allowed 'interact with desktop' in the Task Scheduler service. However, when I Remote Desktop to the server and log on as the same domain user that the Scheduled Task runs under, I still can't interact with the GUI of the application that the scheduled task launches. (The process is definitely running in Task Manager). I suspect the problem is somehow caused by the Scheduled Task kicking off at System Startup (i.e. following the nightly server restart, which is when I need it to start) before anyone is actually logged in - is there any way of accessing the appl…
