Mapped drives disappeared (login script)
by Guest kingsroad- 2 replies

I have a strange problem about login script. I used to use the login script to map several network drives for the users. But some users (no particular users, just random) occassionaly lost their all mapped drives. They just disappeared with no reason. Manually running the login script will show up again. I checked the event log on server and the client's machine and there aren't any clues.

restoring system partition to larger partition
by Guest runner7@fastmail.fm- 5 replies

I am having just a really hard time trying to find out if there are any settings changes that need to be made when wiping a disk, reformatting, and then restoring the system partition to an enlarged partition. The 3rd party Partition Magic some recommend for the job has only non-server versions of Windows as system requirements. I really do not want to buy software to do this anyway, if possible. Can anyone tell me if there are any settings changes that need to be made for the above scenario, such as possibly may relate to partition size in the registry, etc.? Thanks for reading this.

**** "system error 71 has occurred" - An undocumented solution **** "operating system error 71" or "system error 71 has occurred" No more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept. Condition: The workstation is receiving the above error when using the NET VIEW command. The NBTSTAT -s command or NBTSTAT -S command on the workstation shows a connected session, however that session does not appear in the NET SESSIONS display nor in the NETSTAT display. Solution: Restart the Workstation service on the client displaying the error. In Windows XP Professional, the comma…

hey I have 2 computers in my home network, one computer with winXPpro (sp2) and another with win2k3. I haven't configured lmhosts because I thought that is for network with many computers, so having lmhosts is an overkill... am I wrong, then please correct me... WINS is not installed on the win2k3 computer win2k3 computer is configured as domain controller, I've run dcpromo.exe. This wizard created a DNS which don't have any Reverse Lookup Zone.... The computers can ping each other using IP address, but they cannot ping using netbios name.. what am I missing here? Jeff

OT but Important: Usenet Abuse and Impersonation by a sick individual using IP address 208.142.141.177 Hi: To all respective forum readers, please take notice: 1) First of all, my apologies for such a wide off-topic cross- posting. It's unusual, and very frowned upon. But I deem it necessary in lieu of recent events. You can just disregard if you will. 2) There is a user on the net who has impersonated "Don Klipstein", me, as well as other respectable Usenet posters. He/she is using our names, email addresses, and profiles to post nonsense on Usenet newsgroups. This impersonator seems to be located either in Burma or Korea and has the IP address of 2…

Folder redirection
by Guest justmark- 9 replies

Okay, I'm just trying to get a handle on this... We have Folder Redirection set up with a GPO, using \\%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH% to redirect our users' My Documents to a network share area. We also have Offline Files configured to synchronize their files. From what I can see (and maybe this is by design), it appears that opening a document in My Documents is actually opening it live from the server rather than locally? In addition My Documents Properties states that the target folder location is \\server\etc. rather than a local folder. I guess I don't understand what's happening here. I'd assume that you'd want My Documents to be an actual local folde…
