Server will not boot after Driver Verifier enabled
by Guest David V- 0 replies

We were testing our internal software on a new server due to go live within a few weeks, when the server failed with a BSOD. A search of the errors online indicated probable driver problems, so I ran verifier.exe, as per KB article 244617. I selected "verify all drivers", which required a reboot. Now the server is stuck in an endless loop of detecting the memory and RAID controllers, prompting for a boot from a backup ROM or PXE, and then shutting down and starting over again. What is going on? Has anybody experienced problems like this with verifier? How do you get around it? Thanks in advance for any help.

Can windows 2000/2003 log the source MAC forincoming connections? If so I would assume this can be found in the security log but I can't locate any mac addresses there. Is windows capable of doing this and if so where or what policy would enable this? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks -Rob

Bare Metal Backup/Restore Using Virtual Server
by Guest Ron- 0 replies

I'm testing virtual server 2005 SP1. I'm told that you can use virtual server for bare metal backup/restore of our servers. However in reviewing the documentation I don't see any mention on how this is done. Using virtual server how do you backup and entire server, store it, and then perform a restore to a system with no OS on it? Can this even be done in Virtual Server 2005?

Hi, I'm developing an application in PERL that runs over w2003 servers in different languages (spanish, english and french, overall). Depending on the system language the application does different things. Does anybody know how can I guess the system language in a W2003 server?? Is there any record in the system registry with this information?? Does anybody know a function in PERL to get this information?? Thanks.

Hi, Does anyone else have my problem - lack of space on OS partition? When I first created this server there was loads of room, but what with additional applications and 2 years of windows / exchange updates, I'm desparate for space. My question is: can I re partition the disk (it has 2) into one large one? If so, do I need 3rd party software. many thanks, NEIL

by Guest Charlie Brown- 0 replies

I have a windows server 2003 machine that I can not use the keyboard. It is a USB keyboard plugged in and does not respond to the keyboard in safe mode either.... end result is I can not log in to the machine. I also can not Remote Desktop in either, I am guessing some service is preventing both of them, but I don't know how to go about fixing anything without a keyboard. The ksyboard does work will the machine is booting up... Thanks

folder redirection
by Guest UWRFREPORTER04- 0 replies

Question on folder redirection. Under the domain gpo we have my documents to be redirected to the users home directory. I was trying to create a folder redirection gpo in a test environment and it always gives me an access denied message. It doesn't give me the message if I do it on the same gpo as the mydocs redirection. Is there a reason I can't do this?? I am logged in as the domain admin on a single domain organization.

Once a week kerberos failure between web and db server.
by Guest JimLad- 0 replies

Hi, Once a week to the second we get a Kerberos failure between our web server and db server. This is causing us considerable problems. Everything runs fine the rest of the week. The problem lasts from a few seconds to a few minutes, apparently dependent on the number of users on at the time. The website is running IIS6 on Windows 2003 SP2. The db server is running SQL Server 2000 SP4 on Windows 2003 SP1. The domain controller is running Windows 2003 SP1. We are using constrained delegation and protocol transition. The message on the KDC/DC is (where S03 is the dc, S72 with the web server and S10 is the db server): Event Type: Failure Audit Event Sour…

R2 Quota User Email Notification Not Working
by Guest BestSysEng- 0 replies

I have not been able to send quota notifications to users' email addresses. I can send notifications to explicitly specified Administrators' email addresses. How do I get 2003 Server R2 to send notifications to users that they have exceeded quota limits? I have enabled the "send email to the user who exceeded the threshold" setting and it is still not working. I assumed it was use the user login name of the person who exceeded the threshold along with the domain name for the specified SMTP server. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PrintScreen does not work, nor other screen capture
by Guest asperamanca@gmail.com- 2 replies

Hi all, I'm a bit baffled by a problem reported by a colleague, who cannot do screen shots on his Windows 2003 server machine. PrintScreen does not work, and neither does the hardcopy mechanism I implemented (CreateCompatibleBitmap fails, stating "not enough memory"). Creating screenshots of single windows (as long as they aren't too big) DOES work, it seems to stop working once the window exceeds a certain size. (And with two monitors, creating a hardcopy of the whole workplace is impossible). Physical memory is not an issue on that machine (2GB installed, plus swap), so the reason must be something else. I remember reading something about Paged Addr…
