Hello, I am trying to do an integrated installation of Windows 2003 Enterprice with SP2. I can install fine the operating system using CD1 with SP2 integrated into it. After a fresh install using this cd the computer starts with SP2 already intalled. The problem is that when I try to run CD2, with SP2, I got an error that reads: "Setup cannot continue because the operating system edition is different from the Setup edition." If I try to use the original CD2, without SP2, I get: "Setup cannot continue because this product disk is incompatible with the service pack installed on this computer. To complete the installation of Windows Server 2003 R2,…

by Guest Boe- 2 replies

Hello, I have a Windows R2 X64 SP2 server. When I click on Start, shutdown and tell it to shutdown - NOT reboot, it still reboots. All my other servers just shutdown but this one always reboots. I haven't tried a DOS command yet to shut it down but I'd like to fix whatever is causing it to reboot during a normal shutdown. Any guesses?

One solution for the "Error 170: The requested resource is in use" error when starting the Windows Firewall.

One solution for the "Error 170: The requested resource is in use" error when starting the Windows Firewall. Hi All, I recently got this error on a Windows 2003 server while trying to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Service (ICS): "Error 170: The requested resource is in use". This also seems to affect Small Business Server (SBS) too if the previous posts are any indication. After researching it, there seemed to be very little that is concrete out there regarding a solution, but based on what I did right before I got the error, I was quickly led right to the solution. A little background: Right before this error popped up, I had…

Server goes to Sleep?
by Guest S Sainsbury- 5 replies

I have a windows 2003 R2 Server running Exchange 2003. Initially the server ran fine, however shortly after upgrading exchange to Enterprise version we started to have connectivity issues. At somepoint during the night the server drops its connection, this usually happens around 21:00 and causes the backup to fail (backup runs from 18:00 too 22:00). The server then appears to be in sleep mode until the first user in the morning attempts to access email, after about 5-10 mins of trying to connect to email the server appears to wake. The server will then work 100% until the evening and again will loose connectivity at somepoint, anywhere between 18:00…

DFS - Conflicted and Deleted folder
by Guest darth lawb- 0 replies

Hi Our servers DFS replication service did not start after a reboot and when I started it manually it complained that the DFS database had become corrupted. The server said it had managed to fix it and carried on with replication, however the conflictedanddeleted folder just grows and grows surpassing its 600mb quota!! This is bad news as we only have 20gb left on the server in question. I have restarted the same service and lowered the qouta to 10mb and I have also restarted the Distributed File System service and the File Replication Service. It seems to me that the server is doing another intial replication and the problem being that the dfs s…

Setting up email capability on a VPC image
by Guest STom- 0 replies

I sent the email below to the VPC newsgroup but was told that this really had nothing to do with VPC specifically, but had more to do with how to setup a lone server that could send email to itself (like for doing labs etc where the student only has one machine and not networking capability). Here is that email: ******************************************** I have a vpc image created with VPC 2007. It is: Windows 2003 Standard SP2 with all the latest patches (named DEMOAPPSERVER) SMTP POP3 IIS Office 2007 Professional Visual Studio 2005 SQL 2005 MOSS I just login as Administrator so there are no other users on the machine. What I want to be able …
