Is it possible to use the same Image but with different ristndrd.sif tied to it. The goal is use the same ( \reminst\Setup\English\Images\MY-IMAGE-FILES ) but have different choices in the F12 OS Choice Menu. For Example: - reminst -- Setup --- English ---- Images ----- MY-IMAGE-FILES ------ i386 ------- templates -------- ristndrd-XPOPT1.sif (Install Option 1) -------- ristndrd-XPOPT2.sif (Install Option 2) Thank you, Michael

unable to overwrite an .ocx file in a shared folder on windows 200
by Guest arthur gill- 1 reply

As above. I can copy over .ocx's and there is not prob. I can delete then, again no problem. When I try to overwrite the .ocx with the same file I get 'unable to write file, make sure it is not already in use' dialog. I have full permission as the user (hence I can do the first two steps). Administrator has no problems tho. What should I do to allow overwriting EXISTING ocx files in a non system folder (Actually thiws is on a users share on the 'D' drive. Thanks all, this is proving to be a major headache (I work for a software develeopers and we cannot update our backups of our files into the common share folders).

Windows Server 2003 Scheduled Task Logon Account Issue
by Guest Anna_Stephanie- 1 reply
We have a scheduled task setup in Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition with SP2. The task runs an exe file (which was written in VB) which creates an Excel file and then sends it as an e-mail attachment to specified recipients. When we use the domain administrator account to run the task it works. When I specify a different account (scheduledtaskuser) to run the task, it fails. The scheduledtaskuser is a member of the domain admins group and the server's local admin group, has full control to the directory in which the exe sits and has all activation and launch permissions to the Micrososft Excel Application in DCOM. Help!

Trace how users access files (i.e. mapped drive or UNC)?
by Guest John- 0 replies

Is there any way to do this? I need to redo our folder structure and I'd like to find out if anyone is accessing files/folders via UNC rather than our mapped drives (per the login script). Wasn't sure if there was something on the server (auditing) or if I would have more luck from info on the client. If at all? Thanks in advance!

Gotta start somewhere

Ok, I'm new with servers be patient with me. I have my latest MS Action Pack gear and I've been aching to install Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 - but frankly didn't have the hardware here to support it. But as luck would have it I seem to have a spare AM2 Sempron 3000+ in stock, a motherboard to run it and 1GB of RAM and a 40GB HDD - and I'm thinking of using this lot to build myself a server mainly so I can educate myself....hook up two or three client machines to it and spend a while getting my head around it hopefully. I know the AM2 Sempron is probably not the ideal chip for Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64 - but I figure it will work - …

hi, i'm in urgent need for a quick solution to save a server. my winlogon.exe is corrupted yet i am still able to login the server. the current sbs2003 sp1 doesn't have a valid license installed on it and it's asking to activate within the next 5 days (what happens after, is it still possible to activate)? i've bought a new sbs2003 license just to be able to install the new license on top of it. so i need to change the current license and activate the new one. and also try to fix that winlogon.exe file which seems to be corrupted. when i login it pops up a message that says so. any help would be appreciated and any advice on what to do next. i really want to try…

Good Morning and thanks in advance for you assistance. I work in a school and have muliple network printers throughout labs in my building. I have all of the printers configured on a dedicated W2K3 Print Server and then mapped within each lab for the printers I wish them to have when they logon. I would like to redirect the jobs to the teachers workstation so she can approve and allow to continue to the printer device. I have this running in another lab that has high end Xerox printers that come with dedicated SUN machines that are running software to do this. I redirected the printer through the ports > configure tab and point it to a queue name a…

Hello everyone, I have a Windows 2003 server, Standard Edition. The server is running Exchange 2003, all functions, including OWA. I have been troubleshooting IIS on this machine for a bit of time now. IIS will run fine for a few weeks and then will stop accepting new connections, producing error messages in the httperr.log file. My troubleshooting steps led me to a memory leak issue on the server, as described in this article: http://blogs.msdn.com/david.wang/archive/2005/09/21/HOWTO-Diagnose-IIS6-failing-to-accept-connections-due-to-Connections-Refused.aspx I have been following the suggestions from David Wang and did find a memory leak. My issu…
