Print delay using a AD color printer
by Guest cyberdude- 0 replies

For some reason which I have yet been unable to figure, a few of my users who were upgraded from NT profiles to 2003 profiles have a delay of approx 24hrs when printing to our color printer (shared out using AD). While newly installed profiles - not upgraded - have no delay. Any idea what is going on here?? Thanks, Tom -- Tom Zucker-Scharff Systems Administrator

hi, my server which is running AD, DNS, DHCP and RAS (for VPN) has 2 (A) records. *.*.*.78 (LAN) *.*.*.83 (internal) when pc's on the LAN side resolve this, they are being directed to the internal address, rather than the proper LAN address. can i set priority, as in MX type etc, or is there another way i can make the LAN IP the proper record? thanks neil

Hi, Since our recent domain controller migration from NT to Win2k3 R2 we cannot get acess any longer to the Properties/Sharing of any files/folders even as Domain Administrator, unless we open a session locally on the machine on which we want to manage any sharing... Ex : a shared folder on computer X can only be controlled using a administrator connection open locally (either as domain administrator or local machine administrator) but cannot be controlled from a session open on any other machine connected to the network even if the folder apperas in the explorer on this machine (right clic on this folder then Properties only displays the "General" &…

Unable To Install Additional Windows Components
by Guest Yeagermeister- 3 replies

I'm trying to install SNMP on a Windows 2003/SP2 box. During the Setup process, it asks for the Windows Server 2003 CD because it needs to copy certain .dll files. Sometimes it asks for a Service Pack 2 CD. And it doesn't ask for the same .dll file every time. In either case, I put the appropriate CD in the drive and point the wizard to the file it's looking for (the file is always there), but it keeps coming back and saying it cannot copy the file. An example: right now it's asking for the snmpmib.dll on the Windows 2003 Sever CD. When I put the CD in and point it directly to the file it just keeps coming back and asking for the file again. I tried making …

kerberos error codes
by Guest rocketz21- 3 replies

I've been receiving some kerberos error codes in the event viewer and any help to fix them would be appreciated. They are either under Event ID 675 or 673 (I don't know the difference) and the code is 0x25 which is relation to clock skew or the workstation clock being too far off from the DC and 0x20 which is a time out ticket request. Also see 0x1B and a few others. Is there a way I can fix this?

Recover Dynamic Disk
by Guest Ron Gallimore- 3 replies

I updated my home server to Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 today. When I rebooted it could not find ntfs.sys. I tried to copy the ntfs.sys file from the CD to the HDD but I kept getting access denied. Forgetting that I was using dynamic disks in this server I stuck it in my XP SP2 workstation to recover the files. That is where the problems begin. I can not read the disk since it is dynamic and I accidently destroyed the mirror apparently. It was running RAID 1 in the server. I still have the second disk that I have not touched since I do not want to lose any data. Is there any way to recover the data short of paying for recovery software or pr…

Streaming Media across multiple subnets
by Guest MnL- 0 replies

I work for a county library system as an administrator that has 28 branches in multiple locations within the county with multiple subnets. We have just acquired office-training videos that we are to make available to the public and I am looking into the best way to do this. On Friday, I did a test installation of streaming media server on a 2003 server box but did not have much time to look at it. So my question is what would be the best way to make these videos available on the public PCs all running XP pro across multiple subnets without sapping all of our bandwidth. I cannot setup a server at each location. The files are wmv. and quite large. Thank…
