Configuring Automatic Shutdown when power supply is off?
by Guest Okramo- 2 replies
hello, I just bought smart ups and connected server to it via RS232. Also my ups has IP address assigned to it and that part is also working OK (I can ping ups). I'am wondering, how to configure Windows Server to close programs and shut down when battery of ups is getting low and I am not around. OS must figure that he's on UPS and needs to start shut down script. I've tried to configure something with Power options properties but no luck with that. Don't understand what I have to do. Can't find my ups in presented ones and when I chose Custom don't know what to do. I need some help :) thanks

hungapp - msaccess.exe.mdmp

Good afternoon. I'm not quite sure where to ask this question, so any direction provided would be greatly appreciated. We run a Server 2003 R2 environment that contains a SQL Server 2000 database. A VB front end using MS Access Runtine 2003 runs over the database. Users intermittently lose connection to the db (an ODBC Call Fail) and the "hungapp" shows up in the Event Log as the following: Error Report Contents: C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERff8a2.dir00\msaccess.exe.mdmp C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERf8a2.dir00\appcompat.txt The sever event event logs do not contain any errors or warnings that cannot be accounted for and the ODBC Call …

Hi all, I've a Windows 2003 Server R2 SP1 machine that is the only DC of a domain, in this machine the Netlogon service doesn't start (Error 5602 in the Application section ov the event log). If I try to start it manually I receive an error dialog claiming: "internal error 0Xc0000064" It is useless to say that my domain is down! Please help.

Remove "orphaned" domains from Log On To box?
by Guest doug.masters@gmail.com- 9 replies

Last Friday, my company disconnected our WAN from our former owner. We both shared the same domain, we seized all FSMO roles to your DC's after being disconnected. That seemed to go well, the event logs on my DC's are pretty clean and no users are reporting any problems. The former owner had several other domains that would show up in the Log On To drop down box. We never logged into those, but since we're disconnected I would like to remove those and only offer the valid domains. My only thought on what to check was the Domains & Trusts, those domains do not exist there. Thanks in advance for pointing me in the direction I need to go.

Mighty Gurus, I have two win2003 servers. One hosts a web browser that gets PDF files from a reporting server. Previously the reporting server was W2k and the service which created the PDF ran under a user/pass that was identical to one on the W2k3 web server. After upgrading the reporting server to W2k3, I find that this 'trick' no longer works. (You use the same trick in connecting an SQL server to a web server on different machines, if they are both W2k or less.) This is either a security enhancement or a configuration setting. Anyone know of a work-around? Thanks Harry

Shares are unshared w. SP2
by Guest kramer31- 1 reply

Hi all. First let me say that I am not a Windows Server expert rather I have admin privileges because the real admin is too busy and overworked. Recently, one of our boxes running Server 2003 asked to install SP2. I allowed it (figuring that it is more secure). Recently, I tried to map one of the shares, but got an error. So I logged in to the box and found that none of the shares were shared anymore. I guess it is possible that someone else logged into the box and unshared them, but I doubt it. Has anyone ever heard of SP2 unsharing shares? Also, when I looked at the properties of the formerly shared folders, the Sharing tab was missing! Has anyone h…

Unable to logoff
by Guest edtech- 1 reply

I'm hoping someone has some ideas because I haven't run into this before. I have a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 server. When users or administrators try to logoff nothing happens. You can click on logoff and the confirmation prompt pops up but when you click OK you are returned to the desktop. I checked the Event Log and the following entry is entered.. EventID: 1073, Source: USER32 "The attempt by user XXX to restart/shutdown computer XXX failed." I have tried logging off from the command line with no success. The only way to logoff has been to open Task Manager, go to the Users tab, highlight the logged in user and click logoff. This seems to on…

Windows Server 2003 is experiencing slugish performance and at times bringing it to a halt. After a reboot the server appears to run fine. This has happened several times, and after reviewing the Event Logs, I found that there are hundreds of entries for Windows Agent trying to restart. I've searched the web for an explanation, but since Error 7034 is a generic error, I have not found any info to help with my troubleshooting. Please see the exact error listed belwo Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7034 Date: 7/12/2007 Time: 7:59:43 AM User: N/A Computer: SERVER01 Description: The Windows …

First of all Hi to everyone out there those who are willing to help and then Hi to all those who are reading this :) Well ..I have 3 computers at my home, I've installed Windows 2003 Server on the first one and the rest two have Windows 2000 PRO. I downloaded the Group Policy Common Scenarios from Microsoft web site.. I implemented the taskStation for a group of users who log-in their account in Windows 2000, I modified that policy a bit to show an HTML Page as the Desktop background. BUT unfortunately it didn't show up. What I did was I shared a folder on the Server and added the path "\ \homeserver\wallpaper.html", I tried it with a JPEG image it worked fi…

Installation Qualification for Win2K3?
by Guest Rowan Prior- 0 replies

Good day, I know that every environment is different but I am hoping someone here can provide some information. I have a need to move one of my Windows 2003 servers into an FDA regulated environment, and I need to create an Installation Qualification (I Q) for the hardware, operating system (Windows 2003 Std R2) and Citrix. Does anyone have documents that can assist me with this? Does Microsoft have anything that is in the public domain and can be used as a guideline? Thanks
