Is 100k Handles too Much?
by Guest Computer Guru- 2 replies

My Windows Server 2003 SP2 server (IIS 6, MySQL, Tomcat, PostgreSQL, PHP via FastCGI) runs at a constant 90k-105k handles. The Limit is set at 2492408. I think there is something wrong since that's an insanely high count - but the server remains fast and stable, so I'm not sure. It's an x86, with 1GB of RAM (generally around 3/4ths is used). Is there something wrong or is this perfectly OK?

Hello all - I've searched this site and seen similar posts but cannot resolve my issue. I have a newly installed 2003 sbs server with the POP3 connector configured to deliver mail to users boxes. I am sure I have it set up correctly. However nobody is recieving external mail. I tested a few accounts by sending from hotmail, and my own home address, and nobdy recieves. The log files do not show any errors, and I ran the troubleshooting procedures, including telnet external server etc, all checked out ok. Temporarily I added pop info back to everyones outlook 2003 and its all fine now. But some people are saying they were sent mail in the past day or so and …

This weekend I installed Windows server 2003 on a clean machine with no other data on the drives. After the installation I turned on the external firewire drive I plan to use for backups and allowed the drivers to install normally. Over the last few days I've had some problems with the external drive and my backup software and went to format the drive to try to start over. It was at this point that I noticed under the Disk Manager that while my internal C: is listed as (Boot), the external E: is shown as (System). Well no wonder I can't format it... How did my external drive wind up as the system volume, and how can I move this back to C: where it belong…

Hello all: I know that with Windows Server 2003 you can simply add additional architectures to install 64-bit printer drivers when you have a 32-bit server system and 64-bit clients. However, is there a way to do this with Windows 2000 Server? There is not selection available for WinXP 64-bit. Thanks, John
