Server 2003 SP1 reboot randomly
by Guest Hubert Rétif- 6 replies

Hi, Since a few days, the server reboot itself without apparent reason. In the event log I have find these 2 error codes (first more often): Fehlercode war: 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf785f7e9, 0xb8771c48, 0xb8771944). Fehlercode war: 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf785fe23, 0xb851bc80, 0xb851b97c) An old Foxpro (16 bit) program is running on it (XP client call it). This is know as bad memory management and I am wondering whether it is not related, although it was quite good working during about 2 years. Does anyone know the meaning of the above codes? Regards, Hubert Retif

I am doing reserch on this because people are asking to set this to all the servers in our domain. There were a number of Internet articles that state the default for this setting is 15 minutes. I also have seen other internet articles suggesting that you set this to 15 minutes. Do Windows servers, by default, have this already configured or are the articles suggesting the policy should be set to 15 mins?

verbosestatus does nothing
by Guest Wowbagger- 0 replies

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/325376/en-us?spid=3198&sid=1191 If verbose logging is not enabled, you will still receive normal status messages such as "Applying your personal settings..." or "Applying computer settings..." when you start up, shut down, log on, or log off the computer. However, if verbose logging is enabled, you will receive additional information, such as "RPCSS is starting" or "Waiting for machine group policies to finish...." ------- I changed the registry as instructed but nothing changed. I still see nothing but "applying computer settings" (for hours at a time, meaning my server is completely dead in the water)

Windows 2008 in Existing Domain - Rqmts??
by Guest Diane- 9 replies

We are looking at putting in Exchange 2007 on a Windows Standard 2008 box. The existing environment is a Win2k domain with some Win2003 servers. We know the environment needs to be upgraded, however, I have had no luck finding the requirements for putting a 2008 box in an existing domain. Most information I found discusses deployment in a new 2008 domain. I have found the requirements for exchange in an existing domain. Can anyone point me to resources with information on 2008? I called MS pre-sales after much searching myself and all they could offer is they thought the domain had to be 2008. Can someone confirm if this is the case or, if it…

by Guest SQL Programmer- 2 replies

Hello: Other than taking the steps below, is there anything else that needs to be done to allow for remote users to connect to Windows Server 2003 through Remote Desktop Connection in a "non-Terminal Services" environment? 1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click System. 2. Click the Remote tab, click to select the Allow users to connect remotely to your computer check box, and then click OK. Thanks! SQL Programmer (it's just a name)

Changing client TCP/IP settings remotely.
by Guest MT- 3 replies

Unfortunately, the environment I work in does not use DHCP. I need to change the primary dns server for all my desktops and servers. Is there a safe and simple way to do this without actually going to each machine? I'm sure there are some complicated scripts and I don't want to use Group Policy either. Any tools or tricks to make this happen? Thank you.

Hi I have a driver on a print server which functions correctly. The other day I changed a setting so it would duplex on both sides. Since when I print from a client to that driver I get and info bubble appear in the bottom right hand corner of my screen on the client PC. Does anybody know why and how to remove it? The bubble says: This document was sent to the printer Document Name: Microsoft word-Test.doc Printer Name:\\xxxxxxx\HP 9050-pcl6 Time: xx:xx Total Pages: 1 Thanks

Hi All, Changed a simple GPO option and it worked, But I wont to change it back but option greyed out. Unchanged options are still available to be changed but just not the one I amended. Option was "Local Display name "Interactive logon: Do not display last user name" I have an icon now next to the option of "Two grey PC's with a peace of paper between them" Can I amend this in Reg edit section back to default option and if so what is the Default. Replication has already happened. Thanks Loads Adds

Xcopy not working in startup script
by Guest Slingshotz- 10 replies

This is driving me nuts and I have not been able to find any answers on any user group. This is a basic batch file script that I am deploying through group policy in the startup script to copy templates from the server to the local machine. I'm deploying it during the startup so that every computer gets it, regardless of who logs in. ========================= if NOT exist "C:\Templates" md "C:\Templates" pushd "\\servername\Templates\" xcopy *.dot C:\Templates /Y /D popd ========================= The script works perfectly when run by itself, but during the startup script when a computer starts up it keeps saying that *.dot is not found. =======…

Install Printer Win Server 2003
by Guest Laura- 2 replies

Hi: I'm trying to install a printer, on Windows Server 2003, for a user wich belongs to "Remote Desktop User" group. I run this command: rundll32 printui.dll PrintUIEntry /if /f %windir%\inf\ntprint.inf /r "IP_192.49.9.89" /m "HP LaserJet 2100" The TCP/IP port is not installed before I run this command, because, if I add the port with Admin account the port is going to be accessible to all profiles of the others users A message appears "Operations could not be completed", then the printer is not added. The final goal, is to install on the user profile a printer that will be accessed by a TCP/IP address.

corrupt ntfs.sys
by Guest sulimo- 1 reply

Have windows 2003 Standard server, 64 bits. Was running smoothly until last automatic update. Since then I'm getting random "...file missing or corrupt \system32\drivers\ntfs.sys " errors. Hitting any key resets the Pc and OS would load normally. Yet every now and then, error would happen again. Have recovered, replaced RAM, etc. Yet error would remain. Any clue?
