Windows 2008 Server Intermittent Event ID 2012
by Guest TerenceTan- 0 replies
Hi, I've 2 Windows 2008 Domain Controllers with intermittent event id 2012 ( While transmitting or receiving data, the server encountered a network error. Occassional errors are expected, but large amounts of these indicate a possible error in your network configuration. The error status code is contained within the returned data (formatted as Words) and may point you towards the problem. ) Both DC are already installed to the latest Windows Updates, unable to find any clues to this issue for Windows 2008. Appreciate any help. Thanks

Access Control on listening ports
by Guest requeth@gmail.com- 0 replies
I have a few servers that have ports open and listening for data, but I've found some security vulnerabilities with leaving them open. The ports are needed to talk between several known servers. Does anyone know a way to make it so only the servers that need to talk to each other can access the open port, any other server/machine that tries to hit the port gets server refused or something of that nature? I could have it done with a lot of firewall rules on my routers, but I really want this taken care of on the servers rather then through the routers. Ideas oh smart admins?

Hi, and thanks. The big picture is that i'm attempting to set up Wireless (802.1x) Authentication. I have a Windows Server 2008 Standard (non DC) operating as the Enterprise CA. I've created a new certificate template. In the CA when I attempt to add a New Certificate Template to Issue the newly created certificate is not shown in the Enable Certificate Templates list. I've set Read, Enroll and Autoenroll permissions on the certificate for authenticated users, domain computers, and RAS and IAS servers. I know that Windows Server 2003 requires Enterprise or Datacenter edition, is that also a requirement for Windows Server 2008? Any help would be …

Local admin versus domain admin on windows 2008
by Guest BrianB- 6 replies

We have several x32 2008 std servers that we are testing with. They belong to the domain and the local administrators group contains the domain admins group. We are moving an app from a 2003 server to a 2008 server. When trying to install a custom service, we get an access denied error with a domain admin account. The only account that will create the service is the local admin. Is there a way to give the domain admins the same privilages as the local admin account? Thanks, Brian

Hi all Total AD novice here. Windows Server2003, Exchange Server2003 A bit of background to the problem....... I have a number of users with Blackberry devices controlled by a BES server. For the arrangement to work, the BES administration account needs send and receive permissions for each Blackberry user. I don't understand how this was set up, but adding the user to a Blackberry users group should make this happen. However AIUI, it is necessary for the "Allow inheritable permissions.." checkbox to remain ticked on the Advanced tab under the user's security settings for these permissions to stay in place. For some reason, one user in particular keeps…
