I just installed a fresh 2003 R2 OS on a new server but I didn't catch the sizing of the boot © drive. It is 12GB but I want it to be much larger. I haven't done anything with the remaining disk space. Is there anything I can do without re-installing the OS? Thanks. David

I have a windows server 2003 that was upgraded from windows 2000. Update MS07-055 fails everytime I try to apply the patch. I found the workaround details which state to uninstall the Kodak Image viewer and this is what I have discovered. Imaging is not listed in add\remove programs or components. I browsed to the inf folder, located the Sysoc.inf file but did not find the following line to remove hide. imagevue=ockodak.dll,ImagingOcEntry,imagevue.inf,hide,7 I have all of the following files and kodakimg.exe opens properly. %Systemroot%t\System32\Oieng400.dll %ProgramFiles%\Windows NT\Accessories\Imagevue\Kodakimg.exe %ProgramFiles%\Windows NT\Accessori…

VPN With Public IP on a Domain Controller
by Guest Tom M- 6 replies

I have been asked to setup a vpn on one of my servers. I have a dual nic on my dc with one port assigned to the lan and the other port assigned to a public ip. I setup the vpn on the public port and turned on the static filtering. It works fine but I have serious concerns about an unfirewalled nic with a public address on my dc. Can anyone comment on the security problems with this and recommend a firewall that works well for them? -- Tom M

Need help on Shadow Copy and TCP/IP or MSDE 2000 conflict
by Guest Phil Madren- 0 replies
Just installed a program called TimeClock Plus which uses the MSDE 2000 function and also it has to have a com port in the TCP/IP area. Default is 1430 but we had to use 1555 because there default settings uses 1430 and this caused the database on the TimeClock plus program not to work. Shadow copy will not run when the TimeClock SQL manager is running. If I stop the SQL server program and run the Shadow Copy again it works. I need some help on this. I called Time Clock Plus and they had me change the ports from 1555 to a few others but this has not worked. I also have heard if I set the loop back in the firewall settings this will fix the problem. I cannot…

WFW - Folder Permissions
by Guest JohnB- 5 replies

How do you setup the folder permissions to NOT prompt for a username/password, in a workgroup? I have a folder that will contain shared, non-confidential files. I know that if the username/password on the PC and the server match, you don't get prompted. But some of the accounts here don't match, and I don't want to go to the trouble of making the passwords match. Is there a way to do this, when the usernames/passwords don't match, and I don't get the login credentials prompt? TIA

Problem with roaming profiles
by Guest Gorge Lucas- 7 replies

Hi, I have a customer who has a roaming profile. This is setup excatly like all my other customers. What happens is the server goes offline for 1-3 seconds for no apparent reason and syncing occurs. When this happens, they lose all their icons on the desktop, quicklaunch etc. This is a SBS 2003 R2 server. There is nothing wrong with the server from what I can see. It's not going down at all. Any ideas?

Registry Problem WTS 2008
by Guest Ole Weigelt- 0 replies

Hi everybody, I have a strange problem: I have a Server2008 WTS environment. Sometimes it happens that I get messages like this: {Lost Delayed-Write Data} The system was attempting to transfer file data from Buffers to \Device\LanmanRedirector. The write operation failed, and only some of the data may have been written to the file (in German) Message ID 50 Last Word C000020C (Yes, I have posted that message before and got no answer...) Now, I have performed some tests. They showed that some registry keys seem to disappear. Am I correct that every user on a WTS should have a set of keys under HKEY_USERS? When the error occurs, it seems …

Which edition of Server 2003 x64?
by Guest Niall Connaughton- 7 replies

Hi, I'm going to ask a question you've probably seen a lot of, but my problem is that finding one source of information that is whole and consistent on this issue has been quite tricky. So I thought I'd ask here to see if I get some expert knowledge. It have to decide what version of Windows Server 2003 to install on a collection of servers, choosing from Standard or Enterprise editions, 32 or 64 bit. Our provider charges us roughly 3-4 times the price of Standard for installing and maintaining Enterprise edition. On the servers, we'll be running a service written in C# which uses some mixed managed/unmanaged C++ code. The machines have at least 8GB…

Event ID 4191 - TCP/IP error
by Guest Lajus Norvejikus- 0 replies

Hi all, Yesterday, I reverse one virtual machine on VirtualPC 2005, runing Windows 2003 Server R2, to a server machine. I used a legal Acronis to do that. I corrected all problems, except one Event ID 4191, with the following message: "IP could not open the registry key for adapter TCPIP\Parameters\Adapters \NDISWANIP. Interfaces on this adapter will not be initialized." I want to correct this because I enter the TCP/IP definitions, on Start > Control Panel > Network Connections > (my connection) > Properties, then select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties, and when I can back to the same window definitions the information I ent…

Ports to Open for certificate services
by Guest Greg- 4 replies

Hi, I am in the process of setting up a CA within my Active Directory. The enterprise CA will be in the same VLAN as the domain controllers and any other servers that wish to use the service. All workstations (and end users) reside in a different VLAN with a firewall between the two. Computer and user certificates will be issued to domain users and computers throughout the domain. I was wondering what network ports I needed to open in order for this to occur... is it the http port that it communicates on for this purpose? Thanks in advance. Greg
