    Reclaim partition space on SATA disk, WS2003

    I have a client with three logical partitions on a single SATA disk. The original OS partition (C:) is 10 GB and is getting full. I'm planning to install a new disk and move the data on one of the logical partitions (E:) to the new disk. I'd like to reclaim the space in the emptied partition (E:) and make it part of C. I can't seem to find a software utility (e.g. Partition Magic) that supports such operations on SATA disks in Windows Server 2003. Anyone got a recommendation? TIA. Mark Peters

    I've just installed a server fax running on Win 2008. I realize that each user can see only own faxes. I want that all user can see the outgoing queue. Is it possible? Regards

    I have seen an more cases lately where files on a server share (2003 r2) say they are currently in use when this does not appear to be the case. I have had users complain about this as well. In some cases I am very doubtfull that someone actually does have them opened since no one else should even have right to open. Excel files and word files... maybe even some autocad files. any suggestions?

    Find in W2K8 Enterprise changing to wingdings?

    I've been trying out Windows Server Enterprise 2008 and have to keep reinstalling. The desktop slowly sees the fonts change, over a period of a few weeks, from normal to wingdings, making it all unreadable. This has happened multiple times. Avast Server Antivirus does not find anything, nor do I see anything off in Hijack This. I'll attach a screenshot in my reply email, so that it is only by choice that you see the screen shot. This is the 64 bit version, by the way. On the same machine, 32 bit is happy as a clam. This one boggles my mind. David

    I just got my PC back from the repair shop, but now when I recieve an email with a link attached to it, like a reply to a question from this site I can no longer click on the link to take me to this or any other site, PC world etc. I am using XP home and have Norton internet security 2009 and have IE7. any ideas of what I can do .     I get this error only after a weekly reboot. Is there a process not loading up before hand? should I be concerned about this? Is it updating at other times during the week?     connect by name works, but not by IP

    WE have a SBS 2003 server (server1) which crashed due to a disk controller issue. Once fixed almost everything works fine. A few months ago we added a server 2003 (server2) whch runs an application. The two have worked fine together (until today). After controller problem is fixed, clinets cannot run the app. Message is that the computer cannot be found or no permissions to access it. Indeed if one tries Start -> Run \\192.168.16.3 (that address of server 2) from server 1 one gets the errors messages. However, if you substitute the name (server2) for the address everything works fine. Same story on any client computers as well. I've tried ru…

    Can't start the Intel PDS service Error 1053

    I have a 2000 server that I installed the latest patches on over the weekend 10/26. I am now receiving a message that the Intel PDS service could not start. Here is the error it occurs when Windows tries to start it at boot and if I manual try to start it. "Could not start the Intel PDS service on Local Computer; Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion." The service is set to automatically start. I have looked online for this specific error and only found two postings neither provided solutions.

    Hi, We installed the critical update KB958644 on a Windows Server 2008 machine 2 days ago and have experienced a massive increase in CPU utilisation, apparently for the System process. Our performance monitor reports typically showed the web server running in the 5-15% CPU utilisation range for the whole day even under fairly heavy load. For the last 2 days, the CPU graph now looks like an earthquake has hit and we have had to reboot the server both days to reset the CPU to normal. Today, the graph was showing 90%+ CPU utilisation and we were not able to RDP to the box and all web sites were non-responsive so had to get the ISP to do a hard reboot. The grap…

    Hi. We had an SBS 2003 server crash dues to a problem with a RAID controller card. This is the controller for our network. Problem is fixed. Almost everything works well. A while ago a Windows server 2003 was added to run an appllicaton. All has worked well with it and the network. Now, after the outage earlier, we can see server2 in the network neighborhood just like before. However when we try to run the app it fails saying it cannot find the server. When the app was installed they pointed to it by address - 192.168.16.3\somewhere. In trying to see what is and is not working, we tried the old standby Start -> Run \\192.168.16.3 from a couple…

    Hi there, Whe trying to install admin pack for W2K3 stas server, AD domain controller, I am getting the error "Windows 2003 server administration tools pack it can only be installed on XP with QFE Q329257, XP sp1 or later or on computers running windows 2003 operating systems".     I have a server 2k3 R2 SP2 which is a DC and I cannot get the DHCP service to bind to the IP address.
