We are trying to copy a 149 GB file from one server to another and on the destination server we are getting an error. We are getting the following message: "Cannot copy ngprod_data_dump: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service." Have anyone else encountered this issue? Migrating from WSUS 2.0 to 3.0
by Guest KDawg44- 2 replies

Hello, We have WSUS 2.0 and would like to upgrade to 3.0. We have several child servers (remote sites) that communicate with a parent server. Is there anything out of the ordinary that I should know about or any troubles that anyone has had? According to the documentation I have found: http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/673902d4-17ee-4769-aaf4-da09524cb8221033.mspx?mfr=true it does not appear to be a big deal but I want to make sure I am prepared. Thanks. Kevin

Hi folks, I need a bit of help from all of the experts on here. I need to get a VPN setup for a teleworker that is going to be working from home. Managed to get so far but now a bit stuck. Here's the setup: Windows 2003 server running RRAS in our office, Draytek 2800 router. RRAS is setup and configured for PPTP access using port forwarding 1723 on the router to the server. This works fine and it is pretty stable. I am trying to upgrade the VPN to L2TP/Ipsec in order to improve security. The teleworker is trying to access my network using a 3g modem from Switzerland and it looks like it is blocked. The provider says they support IPSEC (Does this soun…

Ive just tried reinstalling an sbs2003 server from scratch onto a new (also posted in server.setup) Not sure which was the best group, so posting to both. Ive just tried reinstalling an sbs2003 server from scratch onto a new harddrive, it goes through the inital setup fine. It then gets into windows and runs the server setup where i use the default options (its a 2 NIC system with 1 NIC disabled to start with) I install everything and it goes through happily installing exchange etc. It gets to server tools and says that its installing IE6.0 and sits there. Ive left it for about 3 hours and all that happens is that the setup.exe is using around 1gb of ram…

Quota Entry Weirdness !!!! Help !
by Guest Fjorko- 0 replies
I just cannot figure this one out. Users have been Migrated from one file server to another, and I get these wierd quota entries on the new server The amount used for one of the users is 8.5GB but the limit is set to 2GB. I checked all files owned by this user on the new server - and the only data on this server with him as owner amounts to only 1.3GB. So where does the other 7 odd GB come from ? I cannot find any other files for him that amounts to this size. Can anyone please shed some light ? Thanks

Hi, I have 4 SID's in AD. Is their any way I can trace around what time they were created? The SID's are The SID's are S-1-5-21-1993962763-1035525444-725345543-2156 S-1-5-21-1993962763-1035525444-725345543-2197 S-1-5-21-1993962763-1035525444-725345543-2251 S-1-5-21-1993962763-1035525444-725345543-2449 Is it safe to assume that 2156 is created first, and then 2197. ie are they created in some sequence or what? Setting up MS Virtual Server 2005
by Guest Markus- 9 replies
I have downloaded and installed MS Virtual Server (VS) 2005 on a PC running XP Pro SP2. I have an application that has been running on a LAN for some time. My goal is to test this app running over the Internet using Terminal Services (TS). I am a bit of a beginner to some of these issues, so apologize for any basic questions, and appreciate any and all help. To start, I have a very basic question: I understand I can set up multiple server environments or configurations to conduct testing using VS. Does this mean I must download and install Server 2003 on a virtual machine I first setup in VS? That is, do I need to obtain these other OS to do my te…

Expanding a software RAID5 array in Windows 2003
by Guest Calab- 7 replies

Excuse the repost... for some reason my previous posts can't be found on the server. Does Microsoft filter postings from users that don't use a MS NNTP client? I've got a Windows 2003 Server. I have several 500gig hard drives assembled into a software RAID5 array. This array works well. I've just installed a new 500gig hard drive into this PC. It comes up in the Disk Manager and I was able to convert it to a dynamic disk, but I can't figure out how to add this drive to the array. I was able to do this the last time I added a drive to the PC, but I do not remember how. How do you expand a RAID5 array after installing a new hard drive into the …

Configuring updates: Stage 3 of 3 - 53% complete. Do not turn off your computer - endless loop
by Guest Hii Sing Chung- 2 replies

Configuring updates: Stage 3 of 3 - 53% complete. Do not turn off your computer - endless loop It is quite easy to reproduce this problem on my Proliant DL360 G5. After installing Windows 2008 Enterprise, and enable Hyper-V, then doing Windows Updates, the next restart will bring the server into forever loop at "Configuring updates: Stage 3 of 3 - 53% complete. Do not turn off your computer". I have to force power off to end it but when the computer start up again, it will go back into this loop. Doing a Google search, I found other people are also facing the same problem, so it seems to be a serious bug in Windows 2008. Has there been any solution yet?

I'm trying to use a scheduled task to robocopy files from my (old) winSrv2003 to my (new) WinSrv2008. It worked between Server2003 and Server2003 in the past. Workgroup users get disconnected - Server reboot to reconnect
by Guest chigrboy- 0 replies

I have a workgroup at a remote location that periodically, everyone gets disconnected from the server (at the same time) and work grinds to a halt. The only recourse is to reboot the server to get everyone working again. And... this has to be fixed pronto. Here's the rundown of the network: 1. The network is shared with other companies - we have or own gateway/internet connection (this is new as of yeasterday so this is not related). 2. Each company has 1 or more WorkGroup servers (no domain controllers) 3. We have 13 people in our workgroup 4. Our Server: Dell SC1430 (New) 4 GBs RAM Plenty of HD space Windows server 2003 R2 SP2 …

I followed several guides, but I can't get it to work with 2003. Does anyone know any good guides for it or know how to set up an AP350 with radius?

One network, two domains
by Guest Wowbagger- 8 replies

In the building there is one physical network and one Windows (2000?) server that serves up DHCP assignments, handles the gateway and so forth. For most people in the building they use this domain and all is well. There is another group of people in the building with their own 2003 server. Aside from the physical wiring, DHCP and gateway they have absolutely nothing to do with the domain that everybody else uses. The few exceptions above aside, there is absolutely zero resource sharing between this group and the existing domain. They would like to set up their own domain, active directory, sharepoint and other services. The 2003 server is already co…

Advices needed for shared fax service
by Guest TFS- 0 replies
I’ve heard that it’s possible to install a kind of shared fax service to a Windows Server having a 56k modem so that everyone in the domain can fax documents, just like printing documents to shared printers. So I’d like to know more about it for my company's domain and hope someone might give me the answers to my questions. And I hope this is the correct forum since I don't see any other forum for fax. * Is this fax service one of the standard components in some Windows Server system? If yes, which one? Windows Server 2003 or 2008? * My company's domain is currently under AD 2000. But it will migrate to AD 2008 soon. Is it necessary to install t…

server generates Delayed Write errors copying Very large Files
by Guest Phil Lewis- 13 replies

Apologies as this turned out to be rather lengthy.... I run a development engineering lab for a financial services company and we are running into a rather peculiar but very troubling problem on some of our performance servers when copying, moving or backing up very large files, i.e. files greater than about 52 Gigabytes in size (yes GB not MB). Primarily these are SQL Server database files but we also see the same problems copying or relocating large Virtual Server Hard Drive files of that size or larger. The problem is actually an old one that I think has not been dealt with, the end result for us on Windows Server 2000 and Windows Server 2003 R2 is th…

32bit clients can't add printer from 64bit 2003 Server
by Guest JuanPineyro- 1 reply

Orinally posted by JuanPineyro: Ok, I know this seems very elemental but it is kicking my butt. I have a 64bit Server 2003 and I use it mostly for file/print sharing all of a sudden I am having problems with some users on Windows XP 32bit clients complaining they can't connect to their printers. When i get there I try to add the network printer but it tells me the driver is not compatible. I then go to the 64bit server and try to add 32 bit driver support but it will not allow me. Any ideas? Thanks, Juan -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JP

Another batch file question
by Guest JohnB- 7 replies

How would I do this: I have a server with a drive letter mapped to F: I need to copy some of the folders from F: to an existing folder on drive T:, which is on another server. Say the folder names on F: are Folder1 and Folder2. (there's actually about 10 folders) I want to copy Folder1 and Folder2 to drive T: How can I copy Folder1 and all it's sub-contents to T: without first creating a folder in the existing folder on T: I want to avoid, if possible, doing a: MD t:\Folder1 and copying the contents of F:\Folder1 In other words, I want the copy, or in this case, xcopy, command to create the folder name for me. Is there a way to do that? TIA
