default.otm file getting 'not found' on the new 2003 server
by Guest vbrouss- 0 replies

I received the following message from one of my application support users: "We have a file, default.otm, that is 'not found' on the new server. It's located here: http://www.doa.louisiana.gov/ois/Human_resources/default.otm. It worked on the old windows server, but, not on the new. I suspect the the new server is not set up to allow .otm extensions. Can you check on that for me please? If that's not it, I really don't have a clue. I know the file exists, because, I can open it from our g: drive." The new server is win 2003 enterprise and the older server was win 2k enterprise. I thought it might be an IIS issue where I had to name the document under set…

We are looking to move our shared fax over to a Windows 2008 server and would first like to know if the number of allowed fax devices is increased in 2008. In Windows 2003 Standard there is a limit of 4 devices allowed per server. Does anyone know if this has changed in 2008? Thanks, Dana

Server 2003 image creation
by Guest Chris- 7 replies

Hi, I have used Acronis Image Server before to create a complete image of a server, which I then recreated a RAID and put the image back on top successfully. Does anyone else out there know of any other more cost-effective solutions as Acronis can be a little pricey. Any ideas welcome, but all I need to do is create an image of a HP ProLiant DLxxx server as a RAID 1, recreate the RAID and then put the image back on top of the new RAID set. Also, if this image is transferrable to another different hardware (like Acronis Universal Restore option) then please again let me know. Thanks Chris

RE: xp vista network You can start by using two GPOs, one for Vista and one for XP and use WMI filtering to apply the policies. Localagent.exe crashing on Windows Storage Server 2003 R2
by Guest Keith- 0 replies

I have been receiving the following error message on my Windows Storage Server 2003 R2 many, many times every morning this week: "Faulting application localagent.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module localagent.exe, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00029b2f." I purchased a HP Proliant DL100 G2 about a year ago, and up until now it has been working just fine. It has been in production for over 7 months and this has not been an issue until just this past Monday morning. Over the weekend I made a number of changes, and now the process localagent.exe is throwing alot of errors into the application event log that aren't very helpful. I also get numerous pop-u…

Ntbackup

Hi all. I'm using Windows Ntbackup to backup my data (system state and office documents) on DLT and Ultrium (with windows 2000 server and windows server 2003) and all my test restores are always working perfectly. Today, browsing the Internet I found this article: http://www.windowsnetworking.com/articles_tutorials/New-Improved-NTBACKUP-Program.html where the author write: "My point is that NTBACKUP has never been completely reliable. You can use it to back up a system, but if you ever have to restore anything other than a few individual files, you never know what you are going to get." Do you agree with this article or do you think that windows ntb…

Unable to retrieve server list from <master browser>: 64
by Guest J Meyer- 2 replies

Hi, I was getting browser error 8021 and 8032 in my system log and then my Windows 2003 std sp2 server would lose communication and have to be rebooted. Not sure if it's related, but when I later tested with browstat status from that machine I would get (on average) 10 successful results and then a result with the line above (the master browser it was using was also the domain master). I moved the FSMO roles to another DC and then ran browstat status and received successful results from the new Domain Master Browser every time (I ran it at least a couple hundred times.) My questions: 1. Do you think the 8021 and 8032 errors and the browstat error were …
