registration of COM.dll fails on server works on vmware
by Guest alshideaway- 0 replies

Windows 2000 SP4 C:\MYcom\MYCOM.dll failed to register. I have used depends.exe to try and find out the reason that a .dll registration in a msi file fails on a brand new server in our QA enviroment and works fine in our IDE enviroment. This has been a problem for 2 months now. The servers ARE identical builds one is a vmware server and one is on a real box. "c:\MYcom\MYCOM.dll", 0x00000000, LOAD_WITH_ALTERED_SEARCH_PATH) returned NULL. Error: A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed (1114)." "Exited "c:\winnt\system32\REGSVR32.EXE" (process 0x1FC) with code 3 (0x3)." I have just about given up this is one of those "no reason why" proble…

hi everybody. I have a jukebox managed by QStar, and the file system that it creates is UDF and i don't know if Windows 2000 server SP4 can handle a network drive bigger than 2TB. i belive that windows 2000 doesn't write this file system type, but it can read the data stored in this way. Do someboy know if i add more disk to de network drive managed by QStar, windows will become crazy when the space arise up 2 TB ?? Thanks in advance.

W2K OS Desktop Icons Loading Slowly
by Guest Ron- 0 replies
There is about a 1-3 second delay before W2K's icons load on start or reboot. All icons load right away except for, My Documents, My Computer, My Network Places, Recycle Bin, and IE. Never had this problem before. I've had them all load slowly, but that was resolved with a simple defrag. Any ideas?

Forward Email to Individual Accounts
by Guest jmhmaine- 0 replies

Hi: I have an STMP and POP3 Service running on a Windows 2003 server. I have setup a few accounts under one of the domains hosted on the server. What I would like to do is setup a forwarding script/program/task that would forward mail addressed to a certain account to another individual email address that is not hosted on the server, such as: Mail to joe@smith.com is sent to jane@yahoo.com In this example smith.com is hosted on my server. I do NOT want to setup a generic forward for the whole domain to another SMTP server. Thanks.

file corruption and other problems

I'm using Windows 2000 with DOS v5 and have one serious problem and a couple of small ones. I had about 500 jpgs which I transferred from my old machine, mostly of album covers and musicians etc. Almost all of them have somehow become corrupted and unreadable. Worse than t hat, some save under different names; I don't know how this came about, and am extremely worried about this. The last time I had a problem like this was with WordStar restoring from floppies donkeys years ago. I am also unable to get long file names onmy machine, and video sites such as Youtube and other media play too fast. Can anyone offer any advice on this? My priority is to restore the…

Windows Process list cutting characters off the ends of theexecutables that are running

Windows Process list cutting characters off the ends of theexecutables that are running I am using Nagios and nsclient to monitor an old windows 2000 box. I am using the check to pull the process list, and verify if an .exe is being executed. On one of my Windows 2000 Server machines, I get false negatives. A service is started, and the executable name is something like longservicename.exe. When I log in, the service is running. If I pull up task manager, I see "longservic" and that's it. So its causing my check to fail. Any reason Windows 2000 is cutting the process name short??

Windows 2000 TS, restricting users to 1 session
by Guest Chris Swinney- 0 replies
Hi all, I see that there are GPOs that can be set to restrict user creating more than 1 session for TS in Win 2003, but we have issues with a Win 2000 TS server. I have also noted that there are GPOs that use keepalive so that dropped session can be disconnected properly. We have remote users that connect in via VPN then use TS to run certain apps. Sometimes the VPN disconnects and the TS session is broken. I have set the option in the properties of the users so that they SHOULD be able to reconnect from any client, however, what appear to be happening is that the user attempts to log back on and a new session is started. I would like to set Win …

Hi All, We recently upgraded a windows 2000 server to Windows 2003 enterprise edition server, it was a fresh installation. We created all the shares which existed and gave permissions, and user started working on it for the last 2 days, yesterday we gave windows update and updated the server using express update, so almost everything got updated. This server is a member server in a AD domain, users are grouped this way. Two groups H1 and H2 were created in "Tai2d/built" OU and all users were placed in respective groups according to their privileges. But from today onwards some users are not able to access some shares. for eg. user1 and user2 are ex…

Veritas Storage foundation and NTFS volume seen as RAW
by Guest toff23- 0 replies

Hi there, We have a storage array with a volume seen as RAW rather than NTFS. Since several days, we are working on it, with Symantec tech support and their last idea is: "From the screen shots that you sent us, looks like your volume should be in a healthy status with a file system. MSFT does have a fix that may just correct your issue. You will have to open up a support case with MSFT to obtain this patch. This will be their latest fix for mountmgr.sys on windows 2000 SP4. This fix is related to filesystem showing RAW status." We can't find the KB article related to what Symantec told us. They can't tell us where they found this article...(int…
