I was given a second hand computer by a local college. Before gifting, they cleared the hard drive and installed Win98 on the laptop. The laptop originally ran ME on it (the original product key and info is posted on the computer), can I use a ME upgrade disk and the original product key to get this computer back to ME? Is there things I should do prior to install?

To those who run AVG 7.5 I've got a procedure question. After running the AVG updater, the process seems to stay loaded even after clicking the 'OK' button after the update is successfully downloaded. Which of the following should I perceive as the best way to manage this: A. Leave the process running. B. Kill the process with PView. C. Reboot...,the one I've been doing. Thanks.

If they are not, then maybe the default settings is what i need to go to. WHat can I try? thanmks in advance -- Thanks so very much for your help-! ! ! !

Free Year of CA Antivirus
by Guest Heather- 5 replies

Saw this today on the antivirus group......but I doubt that I will go back to it. Confusing as Avast can be at times, I think I prefer their detection rate and the fact that it always updates.......not like CA. But it is worthwhile knowing it is out there. Windows Media Player-No Audio
by Guest Jerry- 5 replies

Windows Media Player for Windows Me I suddenly lost audio through Windows Media Player. It will not play my audio CDs. This is what I have done. I tried installing my Sound Blaster Live driver. It processed through until it stopped and sent this message: “File Driver6.CAB on Windows Me edition is needed.” At this point I did not know what to do next and aborted the driver installation. I then went to the Dell troubleshooting diagnostics for audio and it told me to search for the following files: midi=mmsystem.dll wave=mmsystem.dll I did a search and the files were not listed. The Dell diagnostics told me to contact my manufacturer if the fi…
