Unauthorized credit card use 1 2
by Guest Justin Thyme- 29 replies
- 1.9k views
Quite recently I was alerted by my credit card company that there appeared to be several unusual charges on my account (for which I thanked them profusely). My wife and I have our identically-numbered cards in our possession, so I knew they hadn't been lost. I know well that when one hands his card to a server in a restaurant, for example, one temporarily loses all control over any security he may have had, and that's a definite possibility. I also know that there are keylogger programs that may exist on my computer (although I don't know how they might have got there). My suspicion was raised a notch when Alwil's avast! antivirus program detected a Trojan …

Ad-aware

Well, it's been weeks now. I've e-mailed them twice asking how I'm supposed to acquire my copy of Ad-aware Plus as per my 2000 purchase that included lifetime updates. I've had initial acknowledgment of both e-mails but no further response. I shall henceforth consider Lavasoft to have become a new Symantec - their products don't work and they don't give a puck about their customers. I shall assume they have decided lifetime updates promised in the early days was a mistake. I expect that in court they will try to argue that Ad-aware 2007 is a different product - and, indeed, that that is why they named it so! I shall spread the word that they - like Syma…

Loss of internet service.
by Guest Maddogcf7- 17 replies

I have Charter high speed connected to my Windows ME. Last Friday we had thunderstorms and I have completely lost my internet service. My modem is still receiving signal, but my computer and modem will not connect. Charter has tried to help, but to no avail, especially since I'm using USB cable. My computer is not even showing an IP address now and I'm stuck. I have to have this thing going and can't presently afford a new one. Any suggestions?

Today there are more than 10,000 free desktop themes available on the internet; just download as much as you want and preview the zipped files with DesktopMaster. If you like one of the downloaded desktop themes, install it with one mouse click. Make your OWN desktop themes with DesktopMaster and save them as zip files. Bring the pictures and sounds of your partner, childs, pets, holidays or hobbies to your screen and share your desktop themes over the internet. If you can't watch your current desktop theme anymore reset your desktop or choose a new theme with one mouse click. The randomizer option changes your desktop themes every time when you start your com…

!0 Minutes Internet Stops
by Guest Terry Smythe- 15 replies

A friend, still running WinME, has suddenly experienced a stoppage of his internet connection after ~10 minutes. The computer does not freeze up, still able to run applications. In order to regain internet connection, must reboot. Suspiciously like an overheating CPU, we swapped over his components into another functionally similar computer. Surprise! Surprise! Same problem. Then we swapped his USB-LAN adapter for a PCI LAN card. Same problem. He's run all his housekeeping utilities, Ad-Aware, SpyBot, Registray mechanic, et al....., but problem persists. Suggestions? Regards, Terry Smythe Winnipeg, Canada smythe@shaw.c…

Kernel32.dll error
by Guest sharontango- 20 replies

In my other ME machine, when I try to download an attachement, I get this error message {Iexplore has caused an error in the Kernel32.dll. Iexplore will now closed} Although there are many articles/solutions to the kernel32.dll, none seems to describe my situation. I try to follow the suggestion from { http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?kernel32} but it seems I cannot install or replace/rename the kernel32.dll file as the old one being in use. How can I rectify this error then, thanks
