Hi guys, for some strange reason Windows Management and help center seem to pop up at random times for no reason at all. Tried running SR, but it didn't help. When giving the three finger solute, it shows Windows Management with the vowels in management and Help Center with the vowels missing in center. How do I stop this from happening?

The total contents of my C: drive/partition are only 3.25GB. and D: partition's are 17.8GB backup store. The total capacity of the HD is 36.1 GB. 256 MB Extended memory. Uprading Me to XP
by Guest N. Miller- 10 replies

I finally obtained a copy of the upgrade version of Windows XP Home Edition. The problem was with an old HP Pavilion 6745C running Windows Me. The OS is not geared to running a service, such as a mail server, with a long uptime. For whatever reason, Mercury/32 would cause Windows Me system resources to drop to 10%, or so, which, usually, locked up the computer, requiring a reboot. Since Windows XP does not appear to be afflicted with this problem, an upgraded seemed to be in order. To begin, I flashed the BIOS with new code, downloaded from the HP site before they pulled software for older products out of the support life. The flash was successful, but there wa…

Hi everyone.. I have a maybe stupid question.. I am trying to free up hard drive space, yet it seems although I dont have many things listed when I look at my add/remove programs in the control panel, I am still low on harddrive space..and I frequently get a notice saying so. I do have things listed in my add/remove that I simply dont know what they are but they have always been there such as Turbo Project v.4 and NetActive Launcher (what are those and do I need to keep them?) What is a good way to free up hard drive space, since I am obviously overlooking something somewhere... Ive uninstalled everything I think I can take off safely.. What else cou…

Modem & SR problems
by Guest SSJ04 Mewtwo- 13 replies

Hi guys, About three days ago I was able to connect at a bit rate between 49.3-50.6. Later that same day a storm hit and afterwards I'm getting 19.2-21.6 bit rates. Is it possible that the one using the machine at the time didn't unplug the phone line quick and lightning has damaged this modem? It seems that SR isn't making automatic check points. I can create check points but there seems to be no check points created by SR on its own according to the others who use this machine. I ask these questions together because if it's not the modem and if I can't find any check points then I don't think I'll be able to restore it back before the bit rate went dow…

Disk Cleanup Automatically Deleted Something???
by Guest Fred Mann- 12 replies

Hello, My disk was almost full -- 200mb remaining or so, and disk cleanup popped up after I got a "disk space low" warning. This has happened to me several times and I usually just delete some stuff in my recycle bin. But the last time I got the low disk space message, I clicked "NO" when disk cleanup offered to clear up some space (I was downloading a radio show). Next thing I know, I have 1.25G of freee space. So it looks like something was deleted without my approval. My recycle bin still has over 1G of deleted stuff that I'm on the fence about keeping, and it doesn't look like much is missing from there (I could be wrong). But I was wondering ... is there som…
