Latest spybot update disables spyware blaster from enabling protection. Temp fix is to undo protection for fire fox in spybot. Until spybot corrects the problem, this apparently is the only fix, according to Java Cool. richard

Reinstalling Windows ME - How to Proceed?
by Guest Lynn Q- 7 replies

Hi there, I have a 10-year-old system which has two hard drives and is otherwise working fine. It's had a few upgrades along the way with more RAM (now up to 200 MB (not up to 256, didn't have enough old-style memory). One CD drive is a CD reader, the other is a CDRW but it's not speedy. I had upgraded the original Windows ME installation to a WinXP Pro. However, due to memory limitations (RAM) and just overall slowness due to the age and technology of this system I wish to revert it back to Windows ME. I would prefer to start over from scratch. I still have all the original hardware disks (CD Burner software, fax modem, etc.) including my original ME …

by Guest mm- 6 replies

Please help. What should I do? It says: Error Starting Program The WLANAPI.DLL file is linked to missing export KERNEL32.DLL:GetSystemWindowsDirectoryW. The date on the dll file is 11/10/07, and the Kernel32 is date 6/8/2000. When I click on OK, there is a box underneath that says C:\Programs\D-Link\AirGCFG.exe A device attached to the system is not functioning. I have WinME on an IBM Thinkpad laptop with 256M Ram, and everything has been running fine for a long time. In my windows XP pc, I like using the windows fax viewer.... But i dont like the one that is in my other pc that has ME OS. That is because when i want to view a picture, it opens up with 'Image preview" fine; but there is no command for me to move on to the next picture. In order for me to see more pictures, i need to "x" out of them and click on another one...one by one. I have tried to look to see if an arrow is somewhere in the viewer so as to let me go to the next pic by simply clicking on the arrow; but i dont see one. thanks in advance

Questions on anti-virus programs
by Guest Ed Meza- 6 replies

Hello everyone: After 2 years on being on dial up, I Just switched to high speed MSN with DSL. The package came with McAfee AV & Firewall. After installing *McAfee AV* I noticed a complete slowdown in my computer. Had to remove it. (Did not install the firewall). My questions are: 1) Am I right in just trusting Avast4 as an AV? I haven't had any problems while on dial up & none in the few days with DSL. 2) Are there any other AV programs someone may recommend that are not "hogs" in using computer resources? (I know Norton is "out"!!). 3) I'm also using CCleaner, Spywareblaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, & Ad-Aware SE Personal. Shouldn't…

Unofficial Win ME SP1?
by Guest O.J. Newman- 6 replies
Hello: I recently came upon a site that claims to have an "Unofficial" SP1 for Windows ME at http://www.mdgx.com/web.htm#WME. Does anyone know anything about this SP or have any experience with it? Is it worth trying, or am I more likely to get myself into trouble by attempting to install this SP? Also listed are many separate updates, but these may be included as part of the unofficial SP. Again, does anyone know anything about these? Thanks in advance. O.J. P.S. I also seem to recall seeing another unofficial Win ME SP that was a collection of all of the official Win ME updates released by Microsoft. Does anyone know anything about thi…

The PC runs fine, it just always stops for a password, and there isn't any password. Any ideas much appreicated. Mike PS: I searched around via google and microsoft's web site but couldn't find out how to do this.

Daylight Savings Time Update for Win ME
by Guest O.J. Newman- 6 replies
Hello: Earlier this week, I downloaded and installed an update from MS to account for the new Daylight Savings Time end date for my Win XP SP2 PC. However, does MS provide such an update for Win ME, now that it is out of support? How can one have Win ME automatically adjust for the new Daylight Savings Time start and end dates? Has anyone come up with a 3rd-party update? Thanks in advance. O.J.
