Display Print in WordPerfect error.

Hello. This is such a strange problem (to me, anyway). I have my "style" set for Times New Roman, 10 pt., 2 column newspaper. But now, all my WP documents are showing up at about 24 pt, bold. It even goes beyond the margins. I checked the Style, and all is as I set it up. I checked "view", and saw only what it usually does - it was all as I set it up. I don't know what I did to affect the change. I even restored to before it happened, that didn't help. Does anyone have an idea of what might have happened? Thanks in advance for any assistance. S. Audio and Video Problems in Windows Media Center
by Guest Steve Winograd- 7 replies
Hi Everyone, I have a problem with Windows Media Center on my Vista Ultimate x64 system (4 GB RAM), using an AVerMedia M791 PCIe Combo NTSC/ATSC tuner with Comcast analog cable. Every few days, something goes wrong when I record a program or watch live TV. On playback, the audio stutters and skips and is out of sync with the video. The video is broken up. showing parts of different frames simultaneously. Sometimes, a large part of the picture is solid green. A program recorded at 7 PM might have the problem, while one recorded at 9 PM the same night is fine. When live TV is having the problem, closing and re-opening Windows Media Center usually fixe…

I'm using XP Professianal SP3 (hope so) in stand-alone, with ADSL dial-up, logged in with an account having administrator rights. I have the big problem that I cannot install new programs anymore (included the updates for XP...!). When I download the program or updates, the download themselves are very well executed, but when it comes to the point where is says 'installing begins' ore something simular depending on the program/application I want to install, the CPU got into a complete hang-up and I ave to reboot it manually (power off), even the tsk-manager is in hang-up8 Or it states after a sussesful dowload : "estimated time felftover : 1 sec" and it h…

Unable to write to my NEC DVD_RW ND-3550A
by Guest Wally Ballou- 7 replies

I can read a previously written cd or dvd but cannot write to a blank disk (cd/dvd)in the D drive. When attempting to write to the drive containing a blank CD I get an error message that there isn't a disc in the drive. Properties says that the free space and used space on the cd in the drive are zero. I can read the drive using Image Burn and it gives the correct amount of space used/available. I can also burn to the drive using Image Burn. This would preclude a defective drive. Am not sure when the problem occurred. By that I mean that I have not used the drive for a month or so and during that period something such as an new program could have…

Can this be done with the XP pro? I want to backup the whole single 320GB Sata harddrive because I will probably be accepted for a computer course soon. I have been looking at backup options and would like to save the work and the computer to somehow rather than reinstall all manually if reinstalling becomes necessary. -- ....scribble...scribble...scribble...

....crashes. My every attempts to run 64 bit XP fail with a crash. The longest time I have had the os running is about 3 months. I think I can maintain a computer reasonably well. Now I want to do a course in computing, a good step for me you may say eh...so I only need XP Home Edition to have Microsoft Office Professional 2003(the course requirement office software). I would like to have a backup software and I do have and can operate a backup from Neros BackItUp version 1.2.0.65(in the Nero version 6.6.1.15 which is the last version of the version 6 software) but my experience of backups is to operate the software and understand using XP Professio…

Remote Win64 registry access from Win32 managed app ?
by Guest Lance- 0 replies
Since the following article was posted, have there been any updates to the ..NET framework (any version) to support remote access to the Win64 registry from a managed app running on a Win32 system? We'd prefer to do this in managed code without having to resort to PInvoke calling native code that uses the KEY_WOW64_64KEY flag if possible. Thanks, -Lance How to remotely access the Win64 registry from a Win32 machine in managed code (Part II) http://blogs.msdn.com/cumgranosalis/archive/2005/12/19/Win64RegistryPart2.aspx

WXP Pro x64 SP3

Greetings, been a while since I last posted here and I do it intending to install my much used XP64 on a new machine. (Phenom - Giga-byte - Nvidia, etc..). Browsed this Newsgroup pretty thoroughly and I haven't seen my questions answered, some relation perhaps, but not exactly. I am very content with XP64, use to run it on my Turion HP laptop and had some difficulty getting the sound driver right, but I succeeded much thanks to http://www.planetamd64.com/ forums. To my question - I am aware that XP64 follows Server 2003 regarding core updates (at least that is what I have read in several places) so I wonder when a service pack 3 might be available? …

It's been a while since I've seen you around here - as I remember, you used to have a problem with your affinity setting not being persistent over boot-up's. I just happened to come across a utility on a gamers forum that can do this by listing an executable for which a desired affinity is set and then apparently set the same every time that *.EXE is run. If you are interested I will post a link! Tony. . .

I have added my Sony Ericsson W910i phone to the Windows Bluetooth software, I am having a few problems with drivers for 2 entries which I can not find on the CD provided with the phone, these 2 drivers mention SEMC HLA and SEMC Watch Phone. My Bluetooth dongle came with my Dell Keyboard and Mouse and does not offer many options using their software, I did have a problem with another 2 more drivers which were not on the Sony Ericsson CD but found a bunch of Bluetooth drivers from Broadcom, these were for OBEX SyncML Client and Remote Control

Best OS to run VM ?
by Guest Mark Natto- 12 replies

I am planning to built a new PC purely for the purpose of running VM, both Virtual-PC and VMware, the hardware consist of the following : Intel QX6700 with 4x2GB on a Asus P5N-E SLI, bunch of drives on RAID6 Hardware wise I have no problem, just wondering the best OS to use for the tasks, the host OS wont do anything else other than running VM, it wont be for production, more to do with swinging. The choice is not great as I am no Linux expert, so all are Win based. XP64 VistaBusiness64 Server2003 as they can all address above 4GB Could you guys recommend the best one to use and any reasons to why, I am gearing towards XP64 as the footprint is smaller. …

Advanced boot options
by Guest Wasted- 4 replies

Hi New computer - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4Ghz, Windows 64 bit Home Premium, 8GB RAM Have been having trouble getting decent graphics out of Google Earth, and saw in support forums a suggestion to go to advanced boot options and restrict max memory to 3000MB. Did so, didn't improve anything, so reverted to as was, but a couple or so questions arise to help in my learning if someone wouldn't mind. First - if it had worked, would that have meant 5GB of my RAM would have been unavailable to all software? Second - on the same settings screen, there is a setting that says "Number of processors" 1. Is that right, or should the four cores show there? …

Tony, This is a step by step guide for resizing videos. Install VirtualDub x86 and run it once. Install ffdshow 32-bit. Run VirtualDub. Click on File, Open Video File and choose the file you want to "upsize". Now click on Video, Filters... Click on Add, choose resize and click Ok. In the Relative box choose the upsizing percentage, let's say... 200. Click Ok twice. Click on Video, Compression... Choose ffdshow Video Codec, click Configure. Click the "Encode" tab and choose XViD as the Encoder. Click Ok twice. Click on File, Save As Avi, choose the Save folder and click on Save. Wait until the resized file is generated. That's the way I did it to resize a 3…

DVD/RW Drive & pciidex.sys
by Guest Clayton- 7 replies

I have decided to format and reinstall windows vista 64 bit this morning and when I booted from DVD drive it said Selected boot device not available, the DVD drive is a PATA drive, so I connected a SATA DVD drive and it booted fine, continue with the install and all went well. I plugged the PATA drive into another computer and tried booting from the DVD and it booted fine, so I plugged it back into the problem system and now it boots from the DVD but towards the end of the install I got a BSOD about pciidex.sys I then plugged in a PATA CDRW drive and installed XP instead and that installation went fine, so I am at a lost to figure out my problem, thoug…

XPx64 does not work with 2GBx2 Dual Chanell
by Guest churin- 16 replies
I have W2K, XPx86, XPx64, VISTAx86 and VISTAx64 installed in my PC system. RAM consits of two 2GB sticks. I could install XPx64 only with the RAM configured as single channel mode, and after installation, it could boot only with RAM configured for single mode *despite* that all other OSes as above have no problem with dual channel mode. Another thing noted is that the RAM operates as DDR400 in dual channel mode while in single channel mode the speed slows down to DDR333. The problem symptom of booting the XPx64 with the RAM configured for dual channel mode is that the boot process goes into rebooting cycle right after Windows splash display. Note th…

How to stop New hardware wizard from appearing all the time?
by Guest Zootal- 3 replies

XP 64. I have an HP deskjet 5940. The only drivers are beta drivers that blue screen windows, so I use the deskjet 990 drivers to print to the printer, which works well. In Device Manager I see Deskjet 5900 series, and HPDeskjet 5900 series entries. I have them set to disabled (which doesn't make any difference) About 5-10 times a day, the Found New Hardware Wizard appears, wanting to help me install software for this printer. It doesn't find it, and at the end I check the checkbox that says "Don't prompt me again to install this software", but that doesn't stop it from coming back again and again. How can I stop the Found New Hardware Wizard from appearin…

Installing Ad- Aware 2008 in Vista 64?
by Guest Don- 3 replies

Hey gang, I am running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I have SpyBot Search and Destroy I have been using . Thought I might add Ad Aware Free version, as I used it back when I was running XP, and noticed the Ad Aware 2008 free version says it will run in Vista 32 or 64 bit. However, when trying to install, it gets through to the " performing software update" notice, and shows time remaining 0 seconds. There is considerable hard drive activity during this for about 3 minutes, then the hard drive activity stops, and it remains on this screen. I have left it here for about 5 minutes afterwards, and it just does nothing. I try to exit setup, get the message to pres…
