Concerning, 'mpeg' resolution enhancing S/W!
by Guest Tony Sperling- 8 replies

I have a number of very low-resolution video 'snips' (and a 30" monitor) anybody know of any way of raising the res, something that wouldn't use a century to calculate? Preferably freeware too! Actually, I do have the Nero Suite (7 Premium) but it is not obvious to me if it can do the trick. TIA! Tony. . .

Display randomly turns on and off
by Guest Skeye- 1 reply
Since I installed Windows XP Pro 64 bit, I seemingly randomly encounter a problem with the screen display. The computer will be functioning fine and then the screen will go black (the monitor is still on) for approximately a single second and then come back on. It does not happen every time I use the computer, but when it does occur, the only solution I have found is restarting the machine (sometimes I have to do this multiple times). I am quite sure the problem lies with Windows or with the drive Windows is installed on as I have Fedora 8 installed on another drive in the system, and it does not encounter this problem. Is anyone aware of a fix for…

by Guest Dan- 6 replies

I am using Vista Ultimate x64 Build 6001 SP1. Intel® Core2 CPU 6700 @ 2.66GHz 2.66 GHz Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB The behavior described below started suddenly, possibly after the installation of an update. Some of the symptoms are: When I click on System Restore I get (as expected) the dialog box “Windows needs your permission to continue” I click Continue. Apparently nothing happens. I repeat the above and I get the message “The System Restore wizard is already running.” However, it is not visible. Task Manager also remains invisible. When I click on “Turn Windows features on and off” the “Windows Features” box is displayed with “Please wait...” but …

Xerox Global Print Driver with x64 support
by Guest Carlos- 2 replies
I found this interesting piece of information while browsing http://www.start64.com "The Xerox Global Print Driver significantly reduces IT involvement and eliminates the need to download individual printer drivers for each product. This truly universal printer driver lets users print to virtually any printer or multifunction printer—even to those made by other manufacturers." The rest of the note and driver links can be found here: http://www.start64.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2390&Itemid=1 Carlos

Why some wav files cannot be played on Vista x64?
by Guest RealCat- 8 replies
Hello. http://misako.co.kr/externaldata/ok.wav http://misako.co.kr/externaldata/error.wav We can go to the control panel-> sound -> sounds tab -> (choose an event ) -> browse , and the click "test" to listen to the wav file. The two files above seem to have the same properties. Ok.wav is played fine but, error.wav cannot be played on the dialog box under Vista x64. I tested the same file on 32bit Windows XP, it was played fine. Do you have any idea why the "error.wav" cannot be played under Vista x64's sound dialog? Not only this error.wav, but there are many other wav files that cannot be played on that dialog or Outlook's rules. This ques…

Install isses with selected programs
by Guest Rick9004- 2 replies
I've used my Ultime 64 bit Vista for a year now. While mostly fine, there are (related I think) issues when trying to install some programs. Example. I have Adobe Web CS3 suite. The Acrobat Pro product refuses to be reconginzed that it is installed. Each and every time I run it, it goes through a full install routine then opens OK. Like wise when I boot my system, the same installer comes up and runs through its paces. Where is the entry to or what entry is missing. I have similar problesm with NY Times reader, and MS PRoject 2003 and others. Addtionally the install for Silverlight does take and each time I go to the Microsoft site I get the…

Removing 64-bit IE
by Guest Rob- 2 replies

I have a 64-bit 2003 Server that is also a Citrix server. It has both the 64-bit and 32-bit versions of IE installed. For some reason, I cannot get one version or the other to be the default. I'm guessing it is because one user in a terminal session will open the 64-bit version of IE and will set it to default while a user in a different terminal session will use the 32-bit version. So, my proposal is to eliminate one of the versions. Since we rely on Flash in some web sites, I'm guessing we need to get rid of the 64-bit version. My question is, can I safely get uninstall it leaving only the 32-bit version to be the default web browser?
