UPHClean and x64

Dear All, I have a Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 Terminal Services server which is experiencing continuous "locked profile" problems (users kept being logged in with temporary profiles because their user profiles could not be updated; you could not delete the profiles in C:\Documents and Settings\ because NTUSER was being used by another process; and all these problems would go away after a reboot until the profiles got locked again), so I installed UPHClean 1.6d from . The installation *apparently* went well, but when I try to start the User Profile Hive Cleanup service, I get the message: "The User Profile Hive Cleanup service on Local Computer start…

Memory Usage in TS

Hello. We're currently running Windows Server 2003 SP2 (Standard Edition). We have a Dell Poweredge 2950 running RAID-1, 4GB RAM, current updates, etc. The server is our main database server (SQL 2000) and is a terminal server for our DB users. We are a very small operation (about 20 users in the server at a time). For the past few weeks we've experienced trouble with SQL not utilizing the available Page File on the server. In the last day or so it's been tweaked to finally start using it a little more efficiently and we've seen good results. My questions: Knowing that Win Server 03 Standard cannot address more than 4GB of PF, is it worth it for us …

Hi I am expereincing a VERY wierd problem with my Citrix Servers. Now we have two AD OU's one for our TS Servers and the other for our CTX Servers. We have User Config GPO defined and our TS servers work fine! However, our Citrix users, when logging in, ALWAYS pick up a roaming profile?!? We have NOT got a policy for this, and any which we have got, we have removed, blocked inhereitence and even removed the READ and APPLY POLICY on. We have also checked the ADU&C TS Profile Path and that is blank, and we have also tried putting in another location but everytime our users log into the CTX servers, they pick there Roaming profile up from anoth…

Install shared printers on Terminal Server
by Guest Pearl- 9 replies

with so many printing issues developing due to printers that Users have created on their local PCs, we've decided to disable the Local Resource Printers and manually create "shared" printers on the Terminal Server so that we can manage them and ensure that only approved printers are used. How can I do that?

RDP Mapped Drives
by Guest Tristan- 3 replies

We seem to be experiencing problems with the drive mapping on our server. An example of this: I (Jo Bloggs) connect to the server and see my drive mapped through as "C on Jo Bloggs Computer". Now when Client 2 and Client 3 connect to the server they are also getting "C on Jo Bloggs Computer" as is every other user. However the C drive mapping is my local drive but just has another name for drive mapping which always "on Jo Bloggs Computer" Has any one experienced this before and how can I rectify this? Thanks in advance Tristan

Remote Desktop group missing after installing recent security upda
by Guest GerardG- 0 replies

We just recently installed the MS security updates and found that we could not connect to our Remote servers throught remote desktop. We updated one local server and had the same problem after the security updates were installed. Once I connected to the local server through a direct console I noticed that the group that was added to the remote desktop to give restricted access to the server was no longer there. Anyone here of this and know a way that I can add a group back throught the remote registry of these systems? Why did the group get removed with the security updates?

Terminal Server Print Port Mapping Issue
by Guest Jeff- 6 replies

Hello, I have a customer who has three employees working via TS on a Win 2000 server. Only one has a problem when printing. Seems like when they she connects to her TS session, her printer never maps to the right port. She always has to go into the printer properties and change the port to the one that says "ANNHOMEPC: PRN1 Microsoft Office Document". After she does that, all's fine..just an annoyance to do this every time she logs in. I've supplied a link to the .jpg to show you the ports. http://www.virtual-it-inc.com/pics/image1.jpg Also, I was wondering if it's normal for so many ports i.e. TS001, TS002...all the way to TS0018 to be in the print prop…

GPO and explicit registry permissions
by Guest pdch@shaw.ca- 3 replies

This is a follow-up to my posting on the "caseware" application. Having determined which registry keys were 'access denied' using processmonitor, and granting full access on the terminal server to those keys, the problem still persists. Is it possible that the GPO is denying access even though specific registry access has been given on the terminal server? Frustrated in IT....

I do not want it to be part of their Terminal Server profile, however. Can I just install it onto the server with my administrator account?

Local Printing - Still having problems ....
by Guest John F Kappler- 5 replies

This is using Terminal Services on a Windows Server 2003 system with latest updates installed (but no specific ones for this problem - if there are any) The problem manifests itself when the user connects to terminal services and their printers do not become visible (get installed) on the list of available printers. I've checked that terminal services Client Settings allows Windows Printer Mappings. I've also checked that the printers are connected via COM, LPT or USB ports and hey are. I thought we might have the driver name problem, but there are no (emphasise no - zero)) error 1111,1105 or 1106 messages in the system event log on the server. I've…

Win 2003 Terminal Server Performance
by Guest erding- 2 replies

I had a windows 2000 terminal server that I was using for branch office connectivity. Running Office applicaitons as well as Intenet Browser and a coupld of systems for creating loan and new account documentation. I added a new win 2k3 server with terminal services and tested it out. All seemed well on the local subnet, but when I try to get to it from a remote subnet the performance really dies. It takes forever to get the login screen up, and repaints on the remote thin client take forever. I can log in locally and all seems to be fine. The connection from the remote office to the term server is a 10 MB fiber connection so bandwidth shouldn't be a …

User "A" running a WinTerm (Wyse) set to 1024x768 @ 16 bit is connected to a Server 2003 Term Server. User "B" running a Dell PC set to 800x600 @16bit is connected to the same Server 2003 Term Server. User "A" runs terminal services manager, finds user "B" in the user list, right clicks on the user and chooses "Remote Control". The following error is returned to User A: "Error 7025 - An attempt was made to connect to a session whose video mode is not supported by the current client" Anyone running a WinTerm can easily remote control any other WinTerm users on the same TS, but this issue persists for any WinTerm user managing any "real" PC's s…
